We had booked direct with the hotel & specifically asked for rooms in the Main wing.

I called them to inform that we shall be checking in late and upon arrival at 8 in the evening we were shocked to find out that they had given away our reservation (4rooms) to someone else. We were left with no rooms at all.

We were a group of 14 with 7 young infants & children, a senior citizen (who can barely walk) and this detail was specified before booking.

Nadhun their agm tried his best to convince us that he had infact "upgraded" us to the Club rooms. A total sham since the club building is very crappy. Infact we felt totally cheated as we had paid full price (50% advance) and hadn't even asked for a discount.

We had driven for about 5-6hours from Nuwaraeliya & were very tired so had no option but to take what was offered. He offered that we could shift to the main wing the next day but that meant waiting till noon and losing out on our sightseeing & other activities which were planned. We refused to move obviously.

We made our displeasure very apparent which led to Nadhun offering some consolatory benefits which in hindsight were not worth the effort my mum & children had to put in for the duration of our 3 night stay to reach the buffet or the kids pool in the main wing.

The club rooms are like a 500mtr or more away from main dining area. The "upgrade" is a total sham and having seen the club and main wing rooms. It was easy to notice that the club rooms have very crappy bathrooms with poor maintenance and cleanliness.

There were red ants running amok in our rooms and lizards & various other insects keeping watch on the main door.

The food is very average & there is nothing much to write about since they don't have any vegetarian options barring a dish or two. The Staff needs rigorous training on how to attend to needs of vegetarian guests.

Consolatory benefits : The use of the Maharaja Suite for the duration of the stay and a 50% discount for the 1st nite on all rooms. Of course u are not supposed to use the Plunge Pool in the suite for an extended period since the motors make too much noise and disturb other guests as informed by the housekeeping.

Overall an experience I would like to forget.

I have stayed all around the world and have never faced a situation where a confirmed reservation is just given away. How funny is that ?

First and foremost please accept our most sincere apologies for the inconveniences caused to you and the rest of your family.

We are deeply saddened by this incident, knowing our esteemed guest was inconvenienced by us. With however good intensions we tried to assist you by upgrading your rooms to the newest section of the hotel, it is not of value if it is not what our guest needed.
Please accept our sincere apologies for not recognizing your needs better and offering what you desired. Our Front Office team have been spoken to about the seriousness of this issue to avoid such occurrences in future.
We also thank you for your feedback on the limited vegetarian options at our restaurant. The Executive Chef along with his team have looked into the issue for immediate rectification. Our training manager has also conducted many trainings to our associates on how to attend to the needs of vegetarian guests.

Again, please accept our most sincere apologies for the inconveniences caused when vacationing with us. We do hope that this experience will not deter you from visiting us again in future as we would love to show you the true worth of the resort.

Stayed in the Club section of the hotel, in 2 interleading rooms - both of which had large balconies overlooking the sea. Large rooms, very tastefully decorated. Fully stocked (note the use of recycled glass bottles for water and bathroom amenities). 2 min walk to the beach - it's a public beach, and great for shell spotting, but not sandy, nor suitable for swimming in. The pool in the club area is a deep one - upto 1.8 M. The pool in the main hotel may be more suitable for younger children (club wing guests can use the main hotel too). Restaurant setting by the sea is wonderful, and the breakfast spread is sumptuous. Free Wifi that works well. Located within 2 KM of Galle town, it is easily accessed too.

Room Tip: Club Wing rooms are large, but restaurant & pool are smaller. Go to the main hotel for food and pool

This is my third stay this year all for 5-6 weeks, I have presently been here 2 weeks and am looking forward to my remaining 3 or so. The staff are exceptional nothing is an issue and always with a smile, food is top rate even if I have had everything on the menu at least twice still it it good. The pool is superb never busy which allows me to swim 40 lengths every afternoon. The beach is clean and has resident turtles if you look for them they and the other wild life and cows are a treat. During my stay this time I have not wanted to go over to the main hotel simply because I feel comfortable in the club, being here on business it is a home from home.

Room Tip: An end room away from the restaurant

Amazing place for your vacation. The view from our rooms was simply beautiful , very comfortable stay. The staff was very attentive. Would recommend to those staying in Galle. Great experience all together!

As always from the moment we walked in we felt that we were welcome and made to feel at home. We were offered an upgrade which definitely was a surprise for us. There was so much attention given to all facilities which included the French Press and the JBL Horizon. This definitely was one of the best hotels with the best services available in Sri Lanka. The Nihal's restaurant was another pleasant experience that no traveler could ever forget with its unique dishes using local ingredients. The staff was very professional in their approach. The breath taking view from the hotel room added to our outstanding experience of Jetwing Lighthouse.

Room Tip: Always select a room on the upper floor
