We had visited this restaurant on numerous occasions since our arrival in 2012 and although mine host was somewhat aloof, the staff were friendly, helpful and the food was of a good standard.
However after experiencing an evening some three years ago where the restaurant was full, service was agonisingly slow, the reasons as we found out later that evening, not enough kitchen staff had been booked in. After waiting more than a hour , some diners were getting understandably frustrated, especially those with children. The host , rather than apologies to the customers and give some sort of reassurances decided to disappear for the rest of the evening.
That was enough for us to decide not to bother going again with so many other dining places to choose from. We started out last evening with the intention of driving into Hua Hin town to dine at one of our favourite venues, but were thwarted by the amount of traffic trying to enter HuaHin centre. It was almost at a standstill , so in a moment of uncertainty we parked the car and decided that as Papa Johns was close by we would give it a another try. We were met at the entrance by a very pleasant young man , who we assumed was the head waiter, we were shown to a table. It was somewhat concerning that there were only a handful of diners. The place looked shabby and the wicker chairs were blackened on the arm rests , from years of bodily contact from diners and had clearly never been cleaned, the woven place mats looked equally neglected. The whole place looked in need of a good clean if not a refurbishment.
We ordered cocktails, Mai Thai’s which were most acceptable, our first course was a mixed Tempra two share , not great but again acceptable . My husband’s main Course was Papa Johns cordon blue , which was OK. My choice was the Swear and Sour mini pork ribs under the sizzling heading on the menu. They must have qualified as maxi but then converted to mini by the use of a machete, as I had to contend with very sharp shards of bone littered in the sweat and sour sauce , (see Left of picture) which itself was dreadfully over spiced , the meat such as it was was dry and stringy. Not returning ever .
One star awarded, for the pleasant attitude of the staff.

I enjoyed a lovely meal here last week.

The menu is varied and reasonably priced, drinks were also very good.

I ate the Thai green curry and chips and the curry was delicious, really filled you up.

I would definately come back again.

My husband and I stay at the Amari hotel opposite and frequently eat at Papa John's. We receive a warm welcome and are always pleased with the attention we receive. The menu is extensive and offers a wide choice of Thai and international dishes. We have eaten here several times over two vists to Hua Hin and have always left happy with our meals here.

We ate here on our first night in Hua Hin - it gets really busy and is popular with tourists. It has a nice atmosphere and the food was good. After that we chose to go to local restaurants and we ate the street food which was more authentic, cheaper and absolutely delicious. If you are not brave enough to do that then this is an excellent choice.
