Rarely have I been so overwhelmed by a tour (which was around the mangroves and to the cave.) This one hour, long-tail boat ride from Krabi Town was so much more than I anticipated. The highlight was climbing up into cave at the limestone karst. A really cool tour and I totally recommend!

We went there by long tail boat to Khanap Nam cave. There were many monkeys. The ticket to go inside the cave was managed by the locals and not expensive.

At the recommendation of our Thai host, we went down to the pier and negotiated for an outing. We declined the invitation from one captain who was clearly drunk and who had his alcohol stashed by a park bench. The second captain was very nice and took us out to see the monkeys, explore the cave, ride through the mangrove swamp, and along the river. We did not, however, stop at the fisherman village which some other people have said on TA is skipped sometimes unless you ask for it. Be prepared to pay a small entrance fee in cash at Khao Khanabnam.

We showed up to the pier wanting to see the cave mainly. We were charged 500 baht and a man took us to the cave where we had to pay 30 baht each entrance fee. You walk around inside, there are nice formations and the coolest part--- bats!! They are up in the left corner in the furthest part of the cave, yes you can walk up there. There's also a bat cave sign on the right as u walk to the cave entrance, check that out too. Then if you walk past the cave entrance there's another cave that leads to the river. Fun visit!

It's unguided. I recommend the trip.

Side note, other reviewers mention going to see mangroves- we didn't. And going to fish farms and holding fish- we just drove by them. Sooo, we missed out probably bc the driver could get away with it and had limited English. So just make sure you get what u paid for out of it.

This is one of the peaceful places hidden in the busy Krabi Town. It can be visited by a boat ride on the Krabi river. A short trail leads to limestone cave where can one can climb up to visit stalagmite, stalactite and other thousand year old formations. There are also pre-historic paintaings with descriptions. Sunset rays in the evening really brightens up one part of the cave facing the Krabi river which looks very beautiful. We saw some monkeys on the way to the cave but they didn't bother us. We also spotted a brown-winged kingfisher on the boat ride.
