After recently returning from an extended stay at the Seaview Patong due to a big hill in Iceland blowing its top, we felt we needed to add our view of the hotel. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with cold flannels (which were really appreciated), biscuits and a drink, the staff were very welcoming and made us feel at home immediately. We were then shown to our room (tipped the bell boy 50Bht) which he was over the moon with. The room we had was on the top floor without any balcony so we requested a move to another room, this was done without any fuss the following day.
This was the precedant for the rest of our holiday, the staff always seemed more than happy to help in any way and always greeted you with a big smile. The accomodation we thought was impressive, cleaned to a high standard every day with a daily supply of beach towels and bottles of water. The pools were very nice and the area surrounding spotlessly clean and always a spare bed or 2. The breakfast was ideal, plenty of choice and you could eat as much as you wanted. The position of the hotel was also ideal, at the quieter end of Patong which was nice and relaxing.
All in all an excellent stay at the Seaview for which we cant thank the staff enough.
P.s dont use the phone in your room as it costs a bomb

Our aircon broke down twice in the first 3 days for several hours. The aluminium sliding flyscreen door was cheap and nasty. We both caught a tummy bug which meant smelly trips to and from the toilet. The smell would then pervade our room, and it was ... bad. We worked out that by turning the aircon off when we went, lessened the problem so it was probably related to the aircon problems.

The bathroom was pretty crappy. The cover for the light over the sink was sagging. The plug for the sink came away to reveal a disgusting old glue and gunk. The shower/bath tiles were grimy. I'm not normally very picky, but having stayed at better backpackers accomodation, for SeaView hotel to call itself 4-star is wrong.

Despite the aircon problems and bad bathroom smells, our requests for a free upgrade got us nowhere

I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in March 2010 with a mate, we booked 1 room with 2 single beds, first night we were told to share a double bed.
Rooms are nothing special and the mini bar is very expensive.
Chambermaids are the best of all the staff in this hotel.
Did not once see a manager or deputy manager and reception staff are a bit snotty.
This hotel caters for old couples and not ideal for younger people who want to have fun.
Joiner fee is £40 a night so do what we did and get a cheap hotel for £10 a night.
Breakfast is very good, lots of fruit, yoghurt, breads, cheese, meats and if your from the UK, bacon, beans, spuds, sausage also every morning they had fried rice and sweet and sour portk!!!!
pools are good but beware of other residents claiming the sun loungers with towels.
Hotel is in a good location and the 7-11 shop has a cash point that don't charge (there are 2 shops next door, look for the yellow ATM)
Oh yep and the resturant food is terrible, don't eat there, very exspensive too.
I found (beside the chaimbermaids) the only time the staff were polite was when arriving and leaving the hotel, all they were after was a tip
In my opinion, do not stay here there are better hotels in Patong

the seaview patong is a excellent hotel, very clean and spotless, the rooms were very good bathrooms need updateing but not a problem, we stayed here for 4 weeks and found this hotel to be in a ideal location, beach across the road, just a 10 min walk away from the bars/restauantships. the first week there was a problem getting a sun louger, but once the fat man went home (he reserved 10 sun beds at 06.30), there were always vacant beds when you had your breakfast, the breakfast was excellent anything you wanted even chips, we only had just one evening meal we found the soup to be cold, the jacket potatoes were warm, we gave evenings a miss at the hotel, the staff were always polite and friendly, yes I would stay at this hotel again
