We stayed at the Titanic Resort between the 8th and 22nd of May 2012. We were travelling as a party of two adults and two children. When we first arrived is was late at night and we were greeted outside by hotel staff who were more then helpful with our luggage and kept things a smooth as possible with a sleeping child in tow.
The staff the whole way throughout the holiday were amazing and really friendly, the kids club staff especially who must work the longest shifts as they seem to constantly be there! Most staff had a fairly good grasp of the English language, though many would start talking to you in Dutch until you corrected them!
The food was brilliant, there was something for everyone at every meal, some well known foods would be served daily such as boiled vegetables, spaghetti, pizza and chips whilst also having different meats and fish dishes available daily. I particularly liked how they included Turkish cuisine several times. For evening meals the food hall would open half an hour early for a child's buffet. We only went to this once as it was your typical processed food, but for picky children it was nice to have the choice, we also found if you went earlier to dine then it wouldn't have been so busy. For the second week we were at the Titanic it got a lot busier, the food hall was hell at times, no tables, lack of service and people everywhere. We didn't try the a la carte due to the menu not providing anything our children would eat, I also resented having to pay per person when other 5*+ hotels we have stayed in gave the option of free a la carte.
For lunch times I would suggest walking towards the beach to try the other snack bars available, there was one that served burgers, steak and baguettes and another (our favorite!) that would serve traditional Turkish Pizza and pasta, a great dining experience and one for the holiday photo album too!
The rooms were good, although maybe on the small side. All well maintained though, clean and with good working air conditioning and heating. A small thing that made me smile was on the TV there was constant re-runs of the 1997 film Titanic, I think I know that film word for word after two weeks of it being the only channel in English available! WIFI was available in the room, we bought it for a week at $25, it was a good connection but would only work within the room, not on the balcony or by the pool, which would have been a bonus. Mini bar in the room was also great, bottles of water, beer, coke and Fanta was provided free daily. The maid service was also good, we asked her to do our room early as would need to have the room after lunch for the children to nap and she was very good at doing this for us. The only complaint I have is that twice they took our spare room key, which we used to keep in the electric socket so we could have the air conditioning on. In the room there was also a safe, though we couldn't get it working.
Pools around the hotel were very good and well maintained. There is an Olympic sized pool for people wanting to do lengths or have a general swim; the other pool which went around the hotel was fantastic for a swim and nice and warm. The children's pool had a large pirate ship and was home to my children for two weeks! The seats around the children's pool went very quickly making it difficult to watch your children all the time, something we had an issue with when we realised at lunch they turn the slides off all the children would clime up the slides, my son fell coming down the slide and banged his chin, we ended up seeing the hotel Dr and being sent to the local hospital for stitches. It cost us £200 so please be aware! Come the second week there did seem to be more lifeguards, which helped with children knowing what they can and can't do when the parents were not around.
The water park was by far the biggest entertainment for us throughout the holiday, be aware with small children though as some of the slides tend to pull you under the water at times and there were several times parents or lifeguards had to jump in. If you want to sunbathe and don't want to get splashed then DON'T sit at the bottom of the slides! The lifeguards were encouraging people to aim for people enjoying the sun so beware! If there was one area of improvement it could be that the cleaners (who were always about) could have cleaned water from the bottom of the slides more as it can get very slippy.
Entertainment was brilliant, there was a large entertainment board telling you daily activities for the day. There was a park for children and a kids disco every night at 9pm. Throughout the evening there were bands, belly dancers and on Sundays a market with camel rides. Camel owners will just pick children up and put them on camels then expect you to pay $10 (20TL) which caught several people out. Amphitheatre entertainment was amazing, dancers, circus, singers, everything you could imagine and to such a high standard.
There were shops at the resort selling clothes, accessories and a small shop that would sell papers, nappies, food etc. We found this shop very over prices; if you left the resort and walked 100 yards there was a petrol station selling the same goods for half the price. Just as an example 3 ice creams at the hotel in the shop would cost around 10TL but at the petrol station would cost only 5TL. They also seemed to make the prices up for cigarettes, one day charging me 13TL and the next 15TL.
An amazing hotel though, can't recommend highly enough and we would definitely go back.
