the place is nice but given the price I was expecting something more,
the room was next to the breakfast tables and I couldn't have the windows open without everyone looking into the room. the bathroom door was broken and the breakfast was quite basic. also, to my surprise, the owner charged me more then if I had booked on booking.com! I will always prefer booking.com from now on!

Really great location to walk from the ferry and around the surrounding areas. The hotel has a home away from home feel and so cute and inviting we wished we could have stayed for longer to relax and look through all the amazing art books that were in our room and in the common area.Breakfast was the perfect start to the day and service couldn't be faulted.I would love to return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.

Although this is not a sleek and modern hotel, it is something much better. The owners have paid attention to every detail...the common areas are filled with art and homey furniture. The long family style dining table is lovely and the tables in the garden provide a secondary searing option. We stayed in the bungalow off the garden. It was funky, quant and charming...obviously an old outbuilding that was cleverly designed to provide comfort and interest. The garden is lovely with a multitude of plants climbing up the old brick walls and/or blooming. There is a restaurant that serves meals, but the breakfast is included with the room rate and it was complete with a orange juice, scone, toast, jam, fresh fruit, meat and cheese. Coffee came to the table in a press and it was delicious. Thanks for a great stay!

All of the charms found in the old city of Colonia have been beautifully placed into this wonderful boutique hotel! Fred, the owner, is welcoming and accommodating and allowed us to push our stay back one day when the ferry from Buenos Aires was cancelled last minute. The building is unique and beautiful, the walls are covered in wonderful art, there are hundreds of books to read in several languages, the patio is surrounded by a beautiful garden, the kitchen is amazing and the food is among the best in Colonia! Our bed was comfortable, the rooms are large but still cozy. I can't say enough about this place! I will always book my visits to Uruguay based on the availability of this hotel!

Room Tip: The upstairs room facing the street is well-lit, and offers a nice view of the street.

From the warm and welcoming check-in to the final check-out after leaving luggage during my final day exploring Colonia, Fred provided outstanding service. Nicely apportioned large suite room, great library and terrace for breakfast or dinner... lots of art on the walls and in the books throughout the property... a welcome oasis.
