This place is not worth more than $40 a night. It has not been updated in over 50 years, the worse breakfast ever and there is a constant presence of hookers right in front. Anyone can get your room key from the front desk...yes actual keys at front desk, 1960s called and they want their "security" back!!!

Thank you for your candid review of our hotel; we sincerely value all comments from our guests. Compared to most other area hotels that cater to the U.S. Forces, the Hotel New Yokosuka is young given that large sections of our hotel have been recently renovated and updated making them some of the newest and most modern hotel accommodations in the area. We are constantly updating our rooms and all of our rooms conform to ‘western’ standards with the latest amenities. Our breakfast offerings are consistently praised by our guests and we sincerely try to accommodate any particular dietary needs a guest may have. Our guests who are not completely happy with the breakfast offerings are invited to bring their concerns to the attention of management. As discussed in earlier TripAdvisor replies, we work very closely with the Navy Shore Patrol and the local Yokosuka Police to monitor and control the streets surrounding our hotel for noise and inappropriate behavior and regarding our security, we have never issued room keys to anyone who is not actually a registered guest of our hotel. We invite Mr. Vozdrad to personally discuss any concerns he may have with our General Manager who is always available and happy to discuss any further concern he may have. We look forward to welcoming Mr. Vozdrad back to our hotel. We will do everything possible to ensure his stay is comfortable and enjoyable.

I find this location excellent for doing business with the US Navy base in Yokosuka. However, the neighborhood has a reputation for noisy nights, especially when there is ship full of sailors on liberty!

Nevertheless, if you get a well located (high floors) room in the residential annex tower, it is hard to beat for amenities and great little studio apartment-style rooms. My room has a balcony, washer/dryer, kiitchenette, bath/shower with bidet, etc. They offer laundry service if you are staying more than a week and it is free if you opt for weekly room cleaning. Since they bring fresh towels and empty trash daily, weekly cleaning and laundry service is a great deal.

Besides the bars and karaoke lounges, the neighborhood offers many ethnic restaurants, from curries, to Italian, to very fresh sushi and ramen noodle places for fast and authentic Japanese dishes. The staff is courteous and professional.

Room Tip: high floors, and get into the residential tower if at all possible. The rooms are much larger.

Thanks so much for your positive review and affirmative mention of the amenities we offer our guests. Our staff works very hard to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations by providing the comforts of home and we pride ourselves in ensuring that our guests have a comfortable and safe place to stay while staying in Yokosuka.

Like every hotel located in neighborhoods near a naval base, we are also challenged with being collocated with places military personal are drawn to for entertainment. Admittedly, these neighborhoods can be, at times noisy particularly at times when many ships are present and on weekends. I can assure you, and our guests, that we monitor the noise situation very closely and work very closely with both the Military Shore Patrol and local Japanese Police to ensure that everything is done possible to minimize excess noise. We are fortunate to enjoy excellent relationships with the local military and local police entities who are committed to minimize anything that detracts from our guest’s comfort.

Again, thanks again for taking the time to submit such a positive review our hotel.

If you need a hotel in the vicinity of the Yokosuka Naval Base, the Hotel New Yokosuka is by far the BEST! The friendly staff, value, superb complementary breakfast, free laundry service, room quality, amenities, and welcoming evening cocktail service all contribute to that fact that the Hotel New Yokosuka is the most in demand hotel in the Yokosuka area. I have tried other hotels, (when the Hotel New Yokosuka is unavailable), and have been very disappointed with the competition. Keep up the GREAT work!!

Ok for short stays, but small rooms, and not somewhere you would stay on vacation with the family. Vouchers for breakfast and drinks at the downstairs bar come with the room which could make it more cost effective if budget is a focus..

Dear John J;

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Hotel New Yokosuka. We truly appreciate your comments. Yes, our primary focus is accommodating guests who are connected with the Yokosuka Naval Base and, as such, we cater to their specific wants and needs. Our prices are structured around the US Government per diem as the vast majority of our guests are here on government business. Our room features and amenities are chosen specifically because our guests have told us what they want. Please do not hesitate to contact us when you are ready to return to Yokosuka; we sincerely look forward to welcoming you.

This hotel is more designed towards personnel in Yokosuka on business. They have very large, beautiful apartment style suites (with washers and dryers and full kitchens in them), but they book quickly, so book as early as possible. The rest of the rooms are "Japanese style" and very small....but this place is great, and has a wonderful free breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Dear Mike G;

We sincerely appreciate your posting these positive comments about our hotel on ‘tripadvisor.’ Yes, it is true that our newly renovated room book early and we are constantly updating / upgrading our smaller rooms to the ‘apartment style’ you alluded to. Your positive comments regarding our hotel, especially our complimentary breakfast, are most welcome and appreciated. Our kitchen staff work very hard to ensure that our guests start their day with an exceptional breakfast. We sincerely appreciate your comment regarding the friendliness of our staff and will share your positive comment with them. We look forward to your return visit to Yokosuka. Thanks again for your positive comments.
