This is the fourth time I stayed at this property but, the first time I stayed in the main hotel. I normally stay a very short walk away in their other tower.
I found the beds and pillows in the main hotel to be very hard and the rooms on the small side.
Their other tower is more comfortable and the rooms have a washer/dryer combo.
The complimentary breakfast and discounted happy hour are adequate. The staff is very nice and pleasant to work with.

Dear mikekennedyauthor;

Thank you for your positive review. Our ‘Tower’ properties are newer than our main hotel facility and were built to different standards. Please let us know if you would prefer a room in one of our towers and we will make every effort to accommodate your request. Additionally, should you want a softer pillow, please let the front desk know and we will be sure to provide you with one.
Thank you also for the compliments directed towards our staff that work very hard to ensure that our guests’ experiences are the best possible.
I look forward to welcoming you back to the Hotel New Yokosuka upon your return visit to Japan.
Best wishes from The Hotel Yokosuka Group Family

Hotel New Yokosuka actually has several buildings and I was housed in the Sky Tower. It is conveniently located very near the Womble Gate which allows easy access to the Yokosuka Naval Base. The rooms are large loft style with a small kitchen and everything you might need for an extended stay. There is a large balcony that runs the entire width of the room. One of the nice features is they have a converter box that allows access to the Armed Forces Network TV broadcast. This allows access to multiple English language stations. If you are coming to Yokosuka on business or pleasure this is a mice place to stay.

I stayed here for 2 months. So I have a pretty good feel for the place. The biggest complaint I had was the WiFi. It was just overwhelmed and they could not seem to get it sorted out. The only solution was to reboot the router, which was hit or miss until the place filled up. When the Fleet is in, the WiFi is out. That being said if you have an Ethernet port, the speeds are great (100 Mbs). The Biggest kudos I give is the laundry service. It is fast, reliable, and will spoil you rotten. The breakfast is pretty fair. Honestly it would be pretty awesome, except the Japanese do not seem to feel strongly about food temperature. If you have a few extra minutes you can get eggs to order which helps, and just zap your plate in the microwave if not. It is noisy depending on where your room is. The Honch reminds me of miniature bourbon street, and you are right across from several popular navy dive bars. So, if you like that it is a plus, if not... not so much. I just went with it. I recommend Sasha Bar for a fun not excessive crowd (it has a Latin flair). All in all, I enjoyed my stay, but, honestly, I cannot imagine why you would stay here unless you are working on the base.

Room Tip: I understand the rooms on the backside are smaller, but quiter

Dear Ms. Eldredge,

Thank you for your encouraging review. We really enjoy hearing from our guests who have enjoyed their stay with us and take the time to post comments on Tripadvisor.
Our free WiFi / internet service is the best currently available in all of Japan and granted, if our hotel is full, and our guests happen to be on line all at the same time, the system does slow down. We are constantly upgrading our WiFi system with the latest available from our Internet Service Provider, (ISP), but the demand for improved services is always growing.
We are happy that you like our laundry service and breakfast offerings. Our breakfast offerings are consistently praised by our guests and we sincerely try to accommodate any particular dietary needs a guest may have. please do not hesitate to bring any concerns you may have to management.
Regarding our hotel’s surrounding neighborhood, we work very closely with the Navy Shore Patrol and the local Yokosuka Police to monitor and control the streets surrounding our hotel for noise and inappropriate behavior.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the Hotel New Yokosuka very soon and sincerely appreciate your continued patronage.

Best wishes from The Yokosuka Hotel Group Family,

This place is not worth more than $40 a night. It has not been updated in over 50 years, the worse breakfast ever and there is a constant presence of hookers right in front. Anyone can get your room key from the front desk...yes actual keys at front desk, 1960s called and they want their "security" back!!!

Thank you for your candid review of our hotel; we sincerely value all comments from our guests. Compared to most other area hotels that cater to the U.S. Forces, the Hotel New Yokosuka is young given that large sections of our hotel have been recently renovated and updated making them some of the newest and most modern hotel accommodations in the area. We are constantly updating our rooms and all of our rooms conform to ‘western’ standards with the latest amenities. Our breakfast offerings are consistently praised by our guests and we sincerely try to accommodate any particular dietary needs a guest may have. Our guests who are not completely happy with the breakfast offerings are invited to bring their concerns to the attention of management. As discussed in earlier TripAdvisor replies, we work very closely with the Navy Shore Patrol and the local Yokosuka Police to monitor and control the streets surrounding our hotel for noise and inappropriate behavior and regarding our security, we have never issued room keys to anyone who is not actually a registered guest of our hotel. We invite Mr. Vozdrad to personally discuss any concerns he may have with our General Manager who is always available and happy to discuss any further concern he may have. We look forward to welcoming Mr. Vozdrad back to our hotel. We will do everything possible to ensure his stay is comfortable and enjoyable.

I find this location excellent for doing business with the US Navy base in Yokosuka. However, the neighborhood has a reputation for noisy nights, especially when there is ship full of sailors on liberty!

Nevertheless, if you get a well located (high floors) room in the residential annex tower, it is hard to beat for amenities and great little studio apartment-style rooms. My room has a balcony, washer/dryer, kiitchenette, bath/shower with bidet, etc. They offer laundry service if you are staying more than a week and it is free if you opt for weekly room cleaning. Since they bring fresh towels and empty trash daily, weekly cleaning and laundry service is a great deal.

Besides the bars and karaoke lounges, the neighborhood offers many ethnic restaurants, from curries, to Italian, to very fresh sushi and ramen noodle places for fast and authentic Japanese dishes. The staff is courteous and professional.

Room Tip: high floors, and get into the residential tower if at all possible. The rooms are much larger.

Thanks so much for your positive review and affirmative mention of the amenities we offer our guests. Our staff works very hard to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations by providing the comforts of home and we pride ourselves in ensuring that our guests have a comfortable and safe place to stay while staying in Yokosuka.

Like every hotel located in neighborhoods near a naval base, we are also challenged with being collocated with places military personal are drawn to for entertainment. Admittedly, these neighborhoods can be, at times noisy particularly at times when many ships are present and on weekends. I can assure you, and our guests, that we monitor the noise situation very closely and work very closely with both the Military Shore Patrol and local Japanese Police to ensure that everything is done possible to minimize excess noise. We are fortunate to enjoy excellent relationships with the local military and local police entities who are committed to minimize anything that detracts from our guest’s comfort.

Again, thanks again for taking the time to submit such a positive review our hotel.
