Beautiful interior, excellent service and delicious sandwiches, risotto and tea. Matcha latte was excellent! An unexpected find.

This cafe is a hidden gem near the entrance of the National Park, across the Sacred Bridge. A modern cafe menu, free WiFi and english speaking staff, cosy interior and rustic family setting just perfect for the view and surrounding natural ambience. We enjoyed a lovely cup of coffee and cake set hiding from the cold outside before continuing on our walk into the National Park. Will highly recommend this cafe as a resting stop for travelers to the Nikko heritage area.
It was a perfect stop for us on a cold day in Nikko. The matcha was wonderful and the dessert was traditional and tasty. The friendly staff recommended our desert and served everything with smiles. I lived the ambiance and cosines of this traditional interior.
Hongu was the first place we visited on our trip in Nikko. Warm and cosy cafe. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food and coffee was fantastic and we were served very quickly. Would definitely go back and recommend.
Pro - very cozy, located high, offering good view, surrounded with forest, offering fresh air, especially nice for having breakfast here. If you come here in November, red, yellow and orange leaves make perfect colorful scene.
Decoration is impressive, exterior and interior. Strictly attentive to minute details, e.g. small cars and super hero figures placed on a window in a restroom are cute.
Staff are friendly and welcoming.
Pasta and coffee I had were very nice.
Con - limited dishes offered on menu, I would have loved to have, for example, more pasta dishes, croissants and baguette.
- [ ] Tips - take a first train from Tokyo and you will be at The Shinkyo Bridge even before 9am, avoiding crowds allowing you to take nice pictures of the bridge. Thereafter, have breakfast and coffee here where the air is fresh.
