I used to love this place. Until today they probably make the best pizza in jb n they have a cod fish dish that melts in ur mouth. Oh and the cod is not in the menu anymore , but they still make em if u ask for it ( they cost a whopping RM 135 tho, be warned ) But their menu has not changed much in the last 8 years. It’s boring for a return visit but if ur new to it, ur gonna love the food. Service is ok, don’t expect smiley faces n great waiters. They all look like they lack motivation in life. And the desserts are usually below par. Good quality food for premium prices.

Five of us went for dinner at Gianni’s over Chinese New Year. The main restaurant was full downstairs so we were offered a table at the restaurant Swheetwater which is next door and which I understand is under the same management. We were told at the time of making a reservation that we could order from the Gianni menu.

Sweetwater was quiet and we made our orders . Food was good but I did have to send my rib eye steak back twice as it was not cooked to my order. When we asked where the mashed potato was, that was listed as an accompaniment to the steak, we were told that they had run out of mash! So fries were given even though we had asked for mashed potato with one of the steak orders. We had about 3 different waiters , with various degrees of competency.

It would have been an acceptable evening until we ordered desserts. Following our order, 1 waiter returned to tell us that they were out of one of our choices , so we chose a cheesecake. After about 10 minutes , the waiter returned to say no more cheesecake! Then we were told that the kitchen in Gianni’s was too busy so couldn’t make any dessert for us . It was incredulous, considering it took them 3 attempts before they told us this. This is the ultimate measure of bad service/communication. We had spent a huge sum already . To then be told , sorry no desserts! All this while we were sitting there waiting in anticipation.

We did go and speak to the Manager of Gianni’s before we left . She invited us to go in and sit down for dessert and apologised. She said that they did have a busy evening. It was too late for us to consider sitting down again. We had sat around long enough and didn’t want to waste any more time. My thoughts are - were we refused desserts because we sat in their sister restaurant and therefore did not deserve a service . Which by the way was their suggestion . Had we not taken the initiative to seek out the Manager no apology would have been given. Certainly not the way to run an expensive restaurant

The evening had been spoilt by this final experience .As some other reviewers have pointed out , the service needs to improve and their waiters be trained .

Had a wonderful dinner at Gianni's. Soft romantic environment and a polite service staff.
Ordered the Diavola Pizza and Pesto Pasta.
The pizza was great. However the same could not be said for the pasta. It was tasteless, perhaps miss out on the salt. Informed the staff and they politely did an exchange for me. I went for the pasta and it was good.

Was here some years ago and returned for dinner with some friends. This place is run by a German Italian and supposedly serving Italian cuisine. We ordered their premium wagyu steak instead of pasta or spaghetti. The mushrooms soup was pretty good with a nice chunky mushrooms instead of the finely blended mushrooms. The seafood soup was a little bland. The sirloin steak was quite tasty but was over cooked, while the tenderloin steak was over powered by the sauce. Overall, even though wagyu is a premium steak but it was overpowered by the sauce, which was a little disappointing.
