I have been returning regularly to my favorite Malaysian Island since 2011, when my daughter and I first visited Langkawi, and Pantai Cenang, and stopped for lunch at Bon Ton, next door to Temple Tree, to meet the cats, dogs and the owners of course, Neryl and Alison. So many happy memories!
I have visited both resorts often, and loved them both, but over the last few years, I've stayed more regularly at Temple Tree after it changed hands and received a major upgrade! I have experienced almost all the antique Malay villas at Bon Ton and the Heritage Houses at Temple Tree, each with its own special character, heritage and history. Although I'm yet to try out the new party venue, Straights House, originally the reception area and restaurant, my favorite would have to be Colonial House!
I stayed in Colonial 3, a spacious and comfortable upstairs room (above an amazing entrance hall) with separate bathroom (and wooden tub) and a balcony for gazing out over the beautiful tropical grounds, while enjoying a leisurely morning cuppa, before wandering across to indulge in a delicious breakfast at Paloh, and a cooling swim in the pool. Then perhaps a stroll to the nearby beach or a massage at the new Spa. As the sun sets a cocktail or beer at Happy Hour, and maybe dinner at Paloh , Nam at Bon Ton or in Pantai Cenang. Perfect!
But what I love best about Temple Tree are the staff. So attentive, kind and helpful - from the lovely ladies who make up the rooms to the wonderful admin, including Fauzan, who always answers my questions so promptly. Special thanks must go to all the bar staff, including our Mexican (?) Pedro, and the amazing Minnie and Mas! Will miss you all so much!!
