We loved Soluna. The atmosphere of the place was great -- you could be social if you wanted to, or you could keep to yourself and not feel like you were being rude.
Staff were lovely and very helpful.
There is a gang of adorable cats that live on the property -- they are very sweet and love to try and take naps on your bed (we couldn't resist letting them!). They have easy access to rooms as most of the windows do not have screens.
On that note.. Mosquitoes were real buggers most nights (buy a "pik" at the corner store), and overall our quality of sleep was poor because it got REALLY hot in our fan room. One of the hottest fan rooms we've ever stayed in actually... If it's not too out of your budget, spring for the AC!!!
Also the bed in room 10 sags deeply on the left side... My girlfriend couldn't sleep at all. Pillows are like a firm sponge.
Shared bathrooms were very clean and spacious (6 stalls and showers in total). Rooms were also very clean, and our room was cleaned once during our 7 night stay, perfect.
Location was good -- minutes walk from a lovely stretch of beach that is less busy than the other end... Also 5 minutes or less from a 24 hour Indian place called Almaz, and a Malay place, both very budget friendly!! A large mini mart is also nearby, ask the staff they will give you directions.
Breakfast was delicious and reasonably priced (2 ringgit for coffee, 2.40 ringgit for 2 eggs).
Highly recommend this guesthouse, and it is most certainly one of the best (if not the best) in its price range on the whole island.
To get here from the ferry will cost you 30 ringgit by taxi.
