We were there for a the retreat with 8 of us. The place is secluded. The infinity pool is cool overlooking the forest. The highlight was the jungle trekking and we get to the waterfall and the dip was refreshing. Coming back and it rains cat and dog and we have a fabulous time in the torrential rain. The food was just average. The rain was so heavy and it wet some part of the room. Early the morning, we have good time having good stretching exercise.

I stayed for a night with my family and boyfriend for a little getaway. The drive itself was enjoyable, as it was only 1 1/2 hours away from KL.

Shorea itself is absolutely beautiful. Beautiful architecture (designed by the owner himself) which took advantage of the stunning views of the forest, two infinity pools, and well-designed villas to ensure privacy while maintaining its connectedness to others. The Shorea Estate which were the newer ones were a bit modern with A/C and a bit quieter than the original villas, which I loved.

There was construction going on for expansion of the Estate which I wasn't comfortable with at first, but it ceased when we got there. There were also some safety hazards - holes for trees, low-hanging branches, and low clearance going up some stairs, so it might not be most kid-friendly place.

The staff were very helpful and accomodating - Elaine, Roza, Rosli, Mak Su and the rest made us feel at home and entertained our requests. The atmosphere itself was incredible, as it was serene and peaceful. It was a lovely Mother's Day weekend getaway for all of us

This resort is an interesting combination of luxury hotel and outdoor rusty living. We fell in love seeing the picture and decided to go. Overall a nice stay.

To note:
- The quality of stay is vm depend on what group u happen to run into. It is a small resort, open air design so u pretty much hear each other loud and clear.
- we stayed 4D3N, think 2 nights would be just nice.

Good:
Beautiful nature - amazing indeed!
Staff- Jose was very kind, helpful and attentive. He made our time enjoyable. He offered to show us the neighborhood when we were out of idea on what to do on the last day.
Surprisingly no mosquito!

Suggestions for the hotel:
- Room is small and with v limited countertop space or drawers. we had to put a lot of things on floor
- Attached kitchen is not nice - because of our family's special diet, we decided to cook but the kitchen ware are dirty and rusty. Should be an easy fix
- direction for driver is not v clear. U can see the signs now and then but at a point the road split, there is no sign. We took the wrong side and got lost. And another guest said they were confused as well

Hope it helps. Overall, we had a superb time. A very nice get away.

The Good:
* beautiful landscape and villas
* beautiful infinity pool
* beautiful scenery especially at sunset and sunrise
* good amenities provided
* good set of kitchen utensils provided
* caretakers were friendly and nice (Ms Prema)
* breakfast nasi lemak was superbly delicious
* cute cats Jimmy and Sophie
The Not So Good
* a little pricey
* a lot incests at night (as expected in the jungle)
* wooden stairs can be quite dangerous with the big gaps in between
* had to pay for BBQ pit on top of the usual rates, it should have been provided for free though
* cant make too mush noise at night

Room Tip: better to travel with a large group and book the whole resort
