We stayed at the Lakehouse for NYE and had quite the memorable experience. Prior to stepping foot into the hotel, my boyfriend had pleasant email exchanges with Param which set the tone for our stay at the Lakehouse.

Checking in was a breeze with a comfortable waiting area and refreshing welcome drinks. Param made it even better by informing us that we were upgraded!

The Forest Suite is massive. The bathroom itself is bigger than the average hotel room in Kuala Lumpur with his-and-hers sink, a walk-in closet, and a sunken-in tub with a waterfall showerhead.

The room is exquisitely decorated with antiques. Using the rotary phone by the four-poster bed brought me back in time, and making a fire in the huge fireplace was perfect for the cold, gray, and damp winter day.

But perhaps what made our stay exceptional was the impeccable service provided by the accommodating staff at the Lakehouse. Everyone, from Param to the receptionist to the waitstaff, went above and beyond. As both my boyfriend and I have experience in the hospitality sector, we have pretty high standards. Well done, the Lakehouse!

Our only suggestions for improvement concerns the food. While we enjoyed other meals at the resort, we found the breakfast lacking. In particular, the Eggs Benedict and the French Toast were substandard.

However, all-in-all our stay was lovely, and we do recommend the Lakehouse should you decide to visit Cameron Highlands.

Stayed here one night in the two room suite (room no 1). Bathroom big and quite good, but room itself worn down and the carpet past due date for replacement. Also unpleasant chemical smell.

The real problem is that this hotel markets it self as "tranquil" and "private". Its located next to a fairly busy road and a huge brown lake (some eco disaster must have occurred) and in the lake some kind of machinery runs almost 24 hours and for sure during the night. So its not an option to have windows open. The noice was also mentioned by another reviewer. I would have accepted these issues if the price we pay was not higher than a 5 star hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Breakfast was quite ok and staff friendly.

We have just returned from 5 days in the Cameron Highlands, staying at The Lakehouse. This beautiful old lodge, has a lovely setting. It is marred somewhat by the terrible state of the lake, and 24 hour dredging which is something to bear in mind, as at times it can be somewhat noisy at night. Having said that, it did not impact significantly on our stay.

The staff at this lodge are definitely the strong point. They work very hard, and make a really special effort to anticipate your needs. Travelling with a 3 year old, this included placing a high chair for her every morning for breakfast, bringing her special food at breakfast, and generally being very accommodating.

We enjoyed the special NYE event that they put on. It is only a small lodge, so not alot of people, but everyone came to the meal, and this was followed by a small party and fireworks at midnight.

The rooms are tastefully decorated, albeit in an old style suiting the building. We found the condition to be good, everything worked as it should. Our bed was an old four poster, and my old criticism is that it needs some looking at. Simply turning over causes it to creak and moan, which on a few occasions caused my partner or I to wake the other just by turning over.

Room service was well done, and each day fresh fruit and biscuits were left. We didn't really enjoy the biscuits, we found them a bit stale, so not sure if they come from a large container? Otherwise room cleanliness and other facilities was great.

We found the food to be of a reasonable standard. We understood it to be a small hotel so it's difficult to have a very wide menu. What we did try was very good. We do think the breakfast could be improved. Egg omelette was not cooked well and was just egg and cheese nothing else with it. The poached eggs were served with a plate of water and soggy toast, so not very exciting. Otherwise the buffet was simple but good, and other breakfast items just as Rotti and Nasi Lemak were very good.

We enjoyed our stay here, and would definitely recommend it. It's location is away from the hustle of the busier towns which means some extra travel each day, but the peace and staff make up for this in spades.

Special mention to the Spa, the massage was excellent and both my wife and I thought this was a highlight and one of the best we have experienced.
