“Fun - if you drink, eat and participate in the activities”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 March 2012

Pros:
- Awesome food
- Awesome drinks (free flow)
- Awesome activities

Cons:
- As per my last visit to Cherating years ago, the rooms are still old, musty and rustic. The aircon is preset at 24-26 degrees Celcius, and if it does not rain at night then the room temperature can be quite warm. I understand Club Med is trying to be eco friendly, but if you will not make the aircon colder, why not install fans as well? A weak aircon + fan will make the nights a lot more bearable.
- Very slow internet / wifi (takes 30 seconds to open up your Facebook page)
- the shows seem to be a bit boring / childish, especially the comedy sketches. It was quite painful to watch and sit there for 30 minutes as the G.Os try to be clowns.
- The free flow wine was not very good, and it was a shame they did not do shots (whisky, tequila, voda) but instead served drinks by the glass
- the brochures said Sailing, but there is no teaching involved. You sit there while the G.O takes you out to sea on the small sailboat. So you're a passenger, and you don't lift a finger. I thought we could learn how to sail? Guess not.

Most of the G.Os were very pleasant and professional. There were a couple G.Os that were a bit rude to the guests (shouting "Listen to me. Can you follow my instructions?") but I suppose when you're dealing with BRIC travellers, anyone's patience can be tested.

I would come back again, but next time I would bring a small fan to my room.

Room Tip: F and G block is closer to Reception, but you will get some of the noise from the bar/club at night...

Although it is a beach property, if you are looking for a tropical beach paradise this is not the place to stay. If you want to relax in a beautiful lush jungle atmosphere and be pampered it is an excellent choice. Rooms are average but clean, and the service is fantastic.
We lived nearby (about 15 minutes away) and would travel often to escape reality for a little while. Like all Club Med's the all inclusive aspect is a plus and makes for a stress free time. A bit pricey for Malaysia but overall a quality resort.

Wonderful family activities and nighttime entertainment.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2012

Just came back from Club med Cherating Beach after two wonderful weeks with my husband and 5 year-old daughter. I cannot recommend it enough for families.
The rooms are lovely if simple (we stayed on block F). Our room was close to the pool which was handy for getting stuff from it during the day. Some rooms can be quite far from the main area. Having said that, if you are a light sleeper you might hear the music from the bar in the evening – but that really did not bother us – nothing that a good pair of ear plugs can’t sort out.

The food is out of this world: they have an array of chefs for each type of cuisine: French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian and Malay – amazing.

The pool was great as it had multiple shallow sections for kids and a massive deep section for swimmers. A lot of it is shaded in the afternoon which is good for keeping little ones out of the sun.

The staff could not do enough: sports team, bar staff, entertainment team. It made us feel very special.

There are two beaches on the resort: one right near the buildings where you can’t swim because of current but it is lovely to laze under the trees in one of the many loungers. The other one is 10mins walk or 5mins on shuttle and is a beautiful lagoon with some sun loungers, water sports and also a restaurant that does later lunch and also dinner (nice change from the main restaurant). When were went it was not busy so there was hardly anyone on the beach and we were also able to use the boats for longer than the normal 20mins. Brilliant!

Mini Club is one of the best we have seen. They do all sorts of activities: trapeze, trampoline as well as some more quiet activities in the outside shaded area of the club. The staff was super competent and caring - particular thanks to Vanessa and Connie for looking after our daughter so well.

We did the elephant sanctuary excursion which was really good. Valerie was a great guide and made sure she included us in conversations despite the fact that everyone else on the minibus was French. It is worthwhile doing for families despite the 2h minibus journey.

I was also impressed with the nurse Anoop. During our stay our daughter was unwell and he was very helpful, giving sound advice, medicine and checking on us afterwards to see all was OK.
Finally, when our bags were left in Kuala Lumpur we had toiletries in the room left for us and the bags were duly delivered to our room when they made it with the next flight.

It was a long way to go from the UK but worth it as we had such a wonderful time. I can’t wait for the next Club Med holiday in the summer! Every little detail is thought of and we felt completely looked after and pampered.

Room Tip: if you want to be close to the pool area, blocks F and E are good.

You'll need a week to get thru all the activites they have, catering for all sorts of age group including children. Let down was the lack of information provided for my team to do a proper planning of participation. Nevertheless the beach was really nice, hospitable GOs and love the attention and helpfullness shown. We had a great time going thru the activites, spending time on the lovely peach, awesome jungle and great food. Spa was a let down for the high price your experience did not match, was dissapointed with the quality of massage :( Simple bedroom which clearly need an uplift but nice enough as we did not spend much time in it. Appreciate the enviroment awareness they preach. Beautiful place for a planned team or family eventful outing. Could do better with change in food variety but you'll definitely enjoy it after a long day of activites outdoor.

Room Tip: Chose the rooms facing the beach, you can view the beautiful sun rise/set.

This is my first beach vacation and it's beyond my expectations, the resort itself is a paradise of its own in the town of Kuantan, Malaysia. I stayed 4 days there and it was a fantastic experience for me. I love the selection of food and activities available not to mention the friendly and approachable guest officers (GO). There is a constant flow of activities available for everyone at any time, I can feel the sincerity and effort of the staffs put in to every activity and event especially the daily evening shows and parties. Thank you Cherating for the beautiful memories, I will definitely be back!
