We spent a couple of nights in Ipoh at the Mu. We had a one of the bigger rooms with two double beds. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious and quiet. The hotel also has underground free parking which is very convenient.

Breakfast was nothing to get too excited about but had ok asian items and you could order eggs however you wanted them.

Location is good, you can walk into old town in less than 20 minutes. If you want to visit Chinatown it is 10 minutes away. However, do note that if you want to get some lunch of dinner the hakwer markets just next to it are both excellent, as evidenced by the queues. Especially the night one (Kafe Best Hill View)!

Overall a comfy place to stay and very good value.

We stayed in the MU hotel for 4 nights and had a very pleasant stay. First and foremost, the staff were so friendly, nice and helpful. They suggested activities and helped us plan our trip. The room was nice and clean and suited us perfectly. There were plenty of good places to eat around the hotel for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including a fantastic evening food market just around the corner from the hotel.

Because of these great food options, the hotel breakfast was just average. We preferred to eat out for cheaper and better. The hotel is also just far away enough from the old town that you would need to take a taxi / Grab car but there is a shuttle service provided if you're patient and plan your day to the shuttle schedule. The wifi was the real let down of the place. We had to do some work while staying there and the wifi made it almost impossible as our codes kept running out.

On the whole, we had a really nice stay in the hotel and it was a great base for us to explore Ipoh.

The hotel location is decent but nothing else about the hotel is good. Poor staff at reception, lack of parking within the hotel and even worse sound proofing. The bar on the top floor plays music and you can hear it 3 floors down. The music is still playing at midnight with little consideration for its guests as we have young children. Enquiry into when the music will stop took a while to get an answer and it didn't even stop at the said timing. Staff doesn't seem to know anything. The water pressure is not standardised across different rooms. There are better places so look elsewhere. It's past midnight and I'm still awake listening to the terrible bass from the bar.
