Even before I stayed there, The Edison had already impressed me when Albert, their Client Experience Manager, emailed me 2 weeks in advance to ask me if I needed any assistance from them before my arrival. This included pick up service arrangements, special requests and for the first time of all my years of traveling, if I would like the hotel to make any restaurant reservations or pre-order any items. When I asked Albert if he had any recommendations, he replied promptly with a comprehensive list of places to eat and what their specialties were.
And then, I arrived at the hotel and was blown away by the beauty of the building, which is a very old mansion that has been tastefully refurbished to become a small luxurious hotel. I drove to Penang and there was plenty of parking spaces available at the hotel. Checking in was quick and easy and Chloe, the front desk representative, also took the trouble to tell me the history of the building and showed me around all the facilities. Meanwhile, my bags were discretely sent to my room.
During my 4-day/3-night stay at the Edison, what stood out for me the most was:
1. Outstanding service (friendly, professional, welcoming and helpful) by all staff. Hello Rina, Yega, David, Chloe and the others whose names I can't remember now!
2. The Lounge - a welcome reprieve after a day of sightseeing in the hot weather....Even before I stayed there, The Edison had already impressed me when Albert, their Client Experience Manager, emailed me 2 weeks in advance to ask me if I needed any assistance from them before my arrival. 2. The Lounge - a welcome reprieve after a day of sightseeing in the hot weather. Soft drinks, juices, fruit, coffee, teas, milk, cereal, snacks, sweets and every evening, each guest can enjoy a glass of wine with cheese. All complimentary.
3. Location - within walking distance to many interesting places to visit and eat at.
4. Well appointed rooms with everything you need for your stay but as it is an old building, the rooms are not sound proof so light sleepers may find it a problem.
And in case you're wondering, I did try one or two of Albert's restaurant recommendations and they were great!
