Took both my daughters to hunt for Sir Francis Light's grave to show them the final resting place of the founder of Penang Island. This is part of our Malaysia history. Seeing is remembering.

If some care is taken to manage this cemetery, it would make a great historical tourist site, for school excursions, to locals and foreigners.

Not worth your time. A bit off the beaten track and bounded by a busy road. Many headstone collapsed and broken, only a few readable. Obviously not on the heritage restoration priority list.

When driving by, this always seems dark & dreary, but walking through, it isn't. There are sign boards by the entrance with approx layout of specific graves & tombs. Not now used & had been let to ruin, despite attempts to maintain it.

And not just because its a cemetery! Coming from Adelaide we went to find the Light burial because of our connection with Colonel Light. The place is not well managed - lots of weeds and broken graves which gave an unkempt feel. However, it does give an insight to those old Colonial days and how hard life must have been for everyone. An interesting way to spend an hour.

A sad and mouldering cemetery - but fascinating. So many early deaths from fever and malaria. Some interesting names there.
