I travel with my wife to penang, and stay at Travelodge hotel, love the vibe, strategic location, such a friendly receptionist, very recommended if you guys want to stay here. I will come again to penang and will stay at the same hotel.

The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect if you are looking to stay within the city. At just a few minutes of drive, you will be able to reach famous tourist destinations. There are convenient stores and food courts nearby. I also spotted two pharmacies just in case you need some medication. The family deluxe was big enough to accommodate the four of us. The swimming pool was such a treat for my daughter.

We spent a week at Travelodge in October while I was making arrangements for knee replacement surgery at the nearby Loh Guan Ley hospital. We chose Travelodge due to is close proximity to the hospital and because this is our favorite area to stay when we visit Penang. There are so many choices of local food in this area that it makes it difficult to decide where to eat. We have stayed at a number of other hotels in this area and found many of those were closed due to the COVID pandemic. With Travelodge under new management and a recognized name, we thought we would give it a try. And I’m glad we did!

The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean. The rooms include air conditioning, a small refrigerator, teakettle so we can have coffee in the room each morning and TV, all items we consider essential wherever we stay. The hotel also has an onsite restaurant and swimming pool. Due to COVID restrictions these were unavailable for use during our stay, but they are things on our list of things to look for when choosing a hotel. Room rates were also very reasonable so choosing this hotel was an easy choice. And the beds are very comfortable. Penang was very quiet during our stay due to COVID travel restrictions until the end when travel restrictions were lifted and Penang sprang to life. The hotel quickly filled and the streets of Penang were filled with cars and people from all over Malaysia as people flocked to Penang for long awaited vacations.

But the thing that set this hotel apart from others we had stayed, and assured that we will return here, was the staff! Every member of the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and always greeted us with big smiles. They made us feel like we were part of the family. The security guard, Bimal, always greeted us with a smile and ensured anyone entering the hotel was vaccinated for COVID and following all regulations. It made us feel very comfortable as COVID was still spreading in Penang.

I had some issues trying to obtain a longer term apartment rental for my recovery from surgery and needed to extend our stay by a few days. Muru, Alias and Ivian couldn’t have been more helpful in extending our stay. They charged us the same rate we were paying when we booked the room, quickly updated our access cards and told us we could stay for as long as we needed.

I really can’t express in words how much I appreciated the staffs friendliness and helpfulness as we searched for a long term rental for my surgery. They helped ease a very stressful time and always wanted to help in any way they could.

Penang is one of our favorite places in Malaysia and the Travelodge Hotel is located in our favorite area of town. We will return to Penang in the future and thanks to a successful surgery, I’ll be walking without pain and will definitely be staying here again! A big thank you to all the staff at Travelodge!
