Hotel Penaga was absolutely beautiful. Conveniently located, walking distance to places of interests, famous foods and bars. The room was really beautiful and was beyond our expectations. If i were to return to Penang, i will definitely be returning to this hotel. Additionally, hotel service was truly exceptional.

Although it seemed a little tired I really enjoyed Hotel Penaga. My room was huge and the the crisp cotton sheets were wonderful. I slept soundly, even after a 12 hour flight. The choice at breakfast was huge and lunch was amazing for 6 Ringetts.

Reasonably priced boutique hotel in the heart of Georgetown. Staff are incredibly friendly and try hard to please. The hotel is quirky, but the rooms were pleasantly large - and ours had a balcony - which we didn't use because of the heat. Rooms are old school, Asian décor - but comfortable and clean.
Breakfast is a solid buffet and the bar is pleasant - but so close to main bar strips you are unlikely to do more than pop in once or twice.
The pool is pretty small - but a compromise - stay out in the resorts - or stay in the heart of the action?

After reading all the reviews was a bit concerned on what to expect. However we thoroughly enjoyed the experience, we stayed for 3 nights to sample the delights of George town.
We had a large room H20, and like a few other reviewers found the style of the room different, it had character and was clean and comfortable. The only issue we had was the road noise, but you are in a city and in small 2 to 3 story hotel, so very difficult to get away from it.
It really is well located for a tour of the City, and all the main areas.
The staff were really helpful about where to go and visit, also local eating places, even had time to initiate us into the Grab app for local taxis.
We didn't have any issues, the only reason we didn't give it 5 stars was the noise, it could be more controlled with better sound proofing and it does look a bit tired in places.
However we didn't pay 5 star prices and to be honest it is really good value for the money.

We researched and read all reviews and our expectations were exceeded. Great location!..of course some noise as Georgetown comes alive at night. If you want quiet stay at Batu Faringi. We had no internet or air conditioning issues at all.
Room was very comfortable and the staff were lovely..nothing was a problem. As for the breakfast yes it was very basic...but you don't want to fill up on breakfast as there so much food to taste in Penang. Special mention to the local hot breakfast options eg noodles etc were so tasty! Loved them. Would love a better coffee though, but would we stay here again? ...... YESS! 👍
