My family and I stayed in Clarke Terrace, what a lovely place! The building is old, needs maintenance, but that is what makes this place so characterful! Creaking floorboards, windows and doors which needed a bit of nudge to lock and unlock, the old solid wood front door, front door opens up to a private 5-foot way, outdoor jacuzzi, with a private garden at the back, wooden louvered windows, antique (or antique looking) cupboards and cabinets, large bathrooms, and a balcony overlooking the hotel. The terraces have lots of space to gather, out back in the private garden, more space to sit and chat, while we sipped tea. There's a well stocked up complimentary mini bar with soft drinks and snacks, plus 10 min neck and shoulder massage, and complimentary glass of wine, afternoon tea, and breakfast... There is also a pool on-site as well as a spa. Hotel staff were very attentive and friendly, attended to any request quickly. Location could not have been better, we could walk everywhere. Try the heritage walk, very informative, enjoyed it very much. Loved our stay so much in Hotel Penaga, highly recommended!

We stayed here in July and loved the hotel and the area.
The rooms are very comfortable and are decorated in a "Chinese Heritage" style that just suited the whole place.
The only issue we had was the WiFi dropped out a couple of times but that sorted out very quickly.
The staff were amazing - could not do enough to assist you - all very polite and helpful.
The breakfast was excellent and we did eat in on a couple of nights too. The only negative we had was a limited dinner menu.

We had a Hutton room. This was spacious and well furnished with period furniture. Cleanliness was good. Service was good but don’t expect a knowledgeable cocktail waiter! We didn’t try the small pool. We had a very enjoyable 1hr massage which was good value for money. The breakfast just average but adequate for our needs. The centre of Georgetown is just a short walk away so we didn’t eat in the restaurant. We had a superb 2hr tour of the sights in a trishaw - well worth doing as the driver acts as a good guide and ensures that you don’t miss anything. We were able to park the car just outside the front door of the hotel.
