Love their ochazuka. Light but great portion for a small eater. Need more attention to the service at the corner tables.

Being a fan of buffets, this one leaves a lot to be desired. Firstly, you are only allowed 1.5 hours to dine in divided into either taking the 12:00pm session or the 1:30pm session. By right, this should still be more then enough to get a good meal but not for this meal. We came for the 2nd session and by the time we arrive, most of the food trays are 80% empty and whats left there is cold. We expected hot refills to be forthcoming but most of the food are not refilled or they are refilled very very slowly (especially the more expensive ones like salmon and prawn tempura). Over the course of the meal, most of them gets emptied and are never seen to be refilled again. (even the mayonnaise dip for the tempura is empty on my 2nd go). This is a big no no for a buffet especially one from a reputable restaurant.

Choices wise, you wont get much to choose from compared to other Japanese buffet in Penang. On our session there are only roughly 15-20 choices of food to choose from. There are a selection of sushi/hand rolls, tempura, garlic rice, japanese noodles, chawanmushi, teriyaki chicken, garlic seafood dish, a selection of ice cream, potato salad, sashimi and that roughly wraps up the choices you get. You could easily get better choices for a RM80 buffet.

Taste wise is the only redeeming factor for this buffet as most of them taste good (not great though) especially the ice cream. Anyhow, for the price tag of RM80 per person, this does not seems to be a great value for most people.

Service is ok/friendly from most of the staffs but they should not keep the dishes/tray when it's only 2:30pm. Yes, the staffs starts keeping the dishes/cleaning up when its only 2:30pm and they start to put leftover dishes together in a plate or tray (which is another big no no to me). They gave you the impression that they are rushing you to complete your meal and leave. I understand last orders are on 2:30pm but this is outright unfair for those dining on the 1:30pm session, as they technically only get 1 hour of dining time. On 3:00pm sharp (I'm not kidding you as I looked at my watch), the staff came and informed us that the restaurant is now closed. Wow, talk about punctuality.

Overall, would I come again for the buffet? The answer is a big No. Would I come again to try the ala carte? Maybe.

As a summary, there are better Japanese buffet in Penang for the value of the money you are paying to dine here.

Came here with the kids for dinner on our first night in Penang during our recent trip. This place was within walking distance of where we were staying and had been recommended to us. Food was quite decent and the service was efficient. Our kids weren't really behaving themselves but the staff still managed to keep smiling. Happy to come back here.

Served by a very friendly gentleman from the middle east, we were very well looked after with some of the nicest dishes including the Wagyu beef that we grilled on our table and the Special Avocado Sushi he arranged for us being Vegetarian was such a lovely gesture.
