This hotel was a delight to stay at.

Old style feel to all of the rooms, a very nice selection at breakfast and very comfortable. The staff were welcoming and helped us find a few good places to go and visit around George Town, and helped us to locate some good street food nearby. The hotel is walking distance to a lot of places around the town.

Moved here for my last two nights in George Town and it was the best decision I made. From the moment I stepped in, the staff were friendly, and helpful, providing recommendations of sites to see, what to do, and how to get there, as well as food recommendations. They checked to see you knew where you were going when you went out and checked in to see how it went when you came back.

The room (Colonial), was large, light and airy. The windows looked out onto the street but the double glazing kept the noise and some of the heat out. The bed was beautiful, comfortable, with great bedding. The furniture and the touches of detail such as the antique wardrobe made you appreciate whoever had decorated the rooms.

Didn't use the tele, but there were DVDs in the library downstairs if you wanted them. As well as water there was iced tea in the fridge and late afternoon, free cake - thank you!

The rooms were quiet - no noise from others, either next door or going to use the terrace.

I can only apologise for the explosion of clothing and packing that the person coming in to turn down the bed found! If I'd known it would have been tidied away before I went out.

The shower was awesome, as was the bathroom, beautifully tiling. The toiletries smelt divine. I felt very spoilt.

Breakfast probably could have seen you through a full day if you went for the fruit, croissants, then yoghurt or cereal before topping it off with the cooked foods too. Managed to limit myself to fruit and the eggs.

My last night, I stayed in after a glass of wine on the terrace as wanted to enjoy the stay for as long as possible, but still managed to hang out of the window to watch the Tet fireworks after midnight.

Would recommend anyone to stay here.

Very friendly and helpful staff made our stay most enjoyable.

The breakfast included in the room rate was exceptional...with delicious fresh fruit juices. We live in Kuala Lumpur but wanted a few nights in Penang over the New Year with our family. Although the room rate was certainly high for that period, the rooms were very clean, simple but also authentic for the period of the building. We spent some time up on the roof terrace on New Year's Eve enjoying the fireworks at midnight.

The Italian restaurant associated with the House (where breakfast is served) is highly recommended as well, although there are fabulous places to eat and drink at all around Georgetown and all within walking distance.

The only disadvantage is having to find car parking along the streets, which are very busy most of the time. Although I think the rate was too high for our stay, it was during a peak period..I am sure it is much lower for much of the year. We would recommend it to others...

Room Tip: The top floor has easier access to the Roof Terrace, but you have two flights of stairs to climb.

Dear Jenny,

Thank you for choosing Campbell House for your Christmas /New Year break from KL.
We are glad to hear you enjoyed your time with us and appreciated all the effort the staff put in to make your stay as memorable and pleasant as possible. Being in the heart of Georgetown parking spaces on the street are limited and unfortunately we do not have allocated spaces,(we have tried...) however we are lucky enough to have several car parks within a minutes walk to our hotel which is quite convenient. Regarding the room rate we only put our prices up slightly during the peak period as do all hotels but we feel we are priced fairly through this time and throughout the year, unfortunately costs in Malaysia have increased substantially as I am sure you have seen living in KL, however we always reinvest to maintain the property and give the best quality of amenities and products that we can can in order to provide our guests a better service. We thank you for recommending us to your friends and we look forward to welcome you back to Penang and Campbell House again in the future.
All the very best for 2017!

Warm Regards
