Highly recommended. We had a pleasant stay here.
Hotel is decorated in the traditional Peranakan style. It is surrounded by a variety of local shopping and eating options. Ban Heng (a local shop that sells traditional biscuits) is also around the corner. Would definitely go back again.

Dear rayneyeoy

Thank you for the kind review, we are so happy you enjoyed your stay. There are some other great biscuit shops we can tell you about on your next visit too.

Kind Regards

Campbell House provides a welcome retreat in the heart of Penang's Georgetown. As a small, boutique hotel, the rooms are spacious and unique, and the staff, with whom residents become familiar, help without delay. In terms of food, look forward to the nightly dessert left in your fridge and enjoy a generous ordered breakfast in the morning. We wholeheartedly recommend Campbell House.

The service was prompt and friendly, but the rooms are tiny and involve zero privacy: bathrooms are not fully enclosed so all unpleasant sounds and smells are not insulated. If you'd like to skip the awkwardness I'd recommend you book separate rooms. We originally wanted a food tour, but the hotel mistakenly booked us a tour with an agency that did not offer any food tours. We got an unpleasant tour guide instead. I do not recommend the Italian restaurant for dinner, although breakfast was nice (dinner was not).
It does have the spirit of Penang and rooms were tidy and clean with some complimentary water, juice and tea/coffee selection.

Dear Azza H,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we value all feedback both positive and negative. We are sorry you didn't enjoy the one night you spent at Campbell House. The room you booked (Blossom) is our smallest room approx 23 sqm which has an open glass bathroom which we do describe on our website, and the booking site via which you booked, all our other rooms are approx 30sqm, and are very spacious so perhaps one of the larger rooms would have been more suitable to your needs.
We have given your feedback to the tour company, and we are very sorry the food offered on the tour and the guide was not to your expectations, my staff did stress your requirements of a halal food tour to the company and they confirmed this was what they would provide, we would not have booked if this was not agreed as we always want our guests to enjoy the experience; we will obviously not recommend them again.
Regarding our restaurant I am sorry to read you didn't enjoy the antipasti plate, rocket salad or striploin tagliata, these are very poular dishes and we do work hard to give an authentic Italian offering, and usually have great feedback but obviously food is so subjective and we all have different tastes, so I hope your comments will not deter other guests from dining.
We are glad that you did at least enjoy the breakfast and appreciated the efforts of the staff and the spirit of our place, we do hope you will come back again and perhaps have more time to really explore and enjoy the true essence of Penang and the food on offer.

With Best Regards

Staff and owners went well out of their way to ensure I had a fulfilling experience in Penang, finding activities to fit my interests and agenda. Great attention to detail in the hotel design, quality of the food and appointment of the staff who were perfectly accommodating. Excellent experience! Thank you to the staff and owners, Roberto and Nardya!

This is the 2nd time I am staying here and still feel overwhelm and love the ever friendly staff of the hotel with a lot of initiative. The decor of the rooms are nicely done up and we certainly love the daily night surprises as well as the morning breakfast ad the restaurant. Pity this time round did not get to eat dinner at the restaurant.

The location of the hotel is extremely convenient to Chulia Street where it comes alive at night with the street food and local fare. And walking around the heritage sites is a breeze. Definitely a recommended place for those who are gearing to stay in the heart of town.

Room Tip: Some touch up work is needed on the furnishing so that it will look refreshed always.
