This was a highly informative, insightful and enjoyable guided tour on bike, of selected cultural attractions of the UNESCO site in central Georgetown. It included food tasting and visits to religious and cultural places. A colourful and fascinating experience of the ethnic neighbourhoods!

As a solo traveller I sometimes find it difficult to organise myself onto tours, as there is usually a minimum number and groups often prefer to go as a group without extras.
I contacted Metro Bike Easy Green Travel the day before and was welcomed onto the tour. Our Guide Jonathan did an excellent job, as a young Penang native his passion for his city was clear and as a jounalist his kowledge of the area had obviously been well researched. I would recommend this tour to anyone considering travelling to Georgetown with a desire to learn about the history and culture of this city.

Penang holds a special place in my heart. Where the great big family of 40 spent a week annually, prior to the time of street arts and sunblocks. Perhaps when trishaws, although dwindling were really used as a mode of transport.

Thanks to Metro Bike, you now get a choice of a trishaw or a bike tour around the Heritage sites. Places we have never stepped in or known existed. Ken gave a great insight and history of Penang's early arrivals. We got a chance at trying to make our own breakfast of roti canai and the tarik. No worries, the pros will take over when you fail so that you'll still get your breakfast. The stops differ slightly depending on the group size and time of day. You'll still get pictures of the street arts and major sites regardless.

The elderly and the youngest in the family shared a trishaw while the rest went on bicycles. We did cycle on roads and had to cross some 4-lane ones but Ken made it pretty safe with his music, whistle and high visibility vest. It's not a strenuous activity. What wore us down was the heat and humidity. Better the heat than the rain. Slap on those sunblocks or wear loose long sleeves.

The formula of tourist sites, clan jetties, secret associations interspersed with food stops, coupled wth cycling is a very good combo.

He does "treasure hunts" for Corporate Team Building events too, which I heard is good.

I booked the tour with Ken the evening before and was just lucky to have another solo traveller wanting to do it the same day. I'm very glad it worked out because we had such a fun morning. Ken is very entertaining and passionate about what he does. He gave us a very animated history of the city interspersed with stops to see the local sights including the famous street art, important landmarks and interesting trivia. We had some amazing food and lots of it! Definitely don't eat breakfast before the tour, you want to be hungry and try everything! Not to mention Ken's photography skills, just follow his instructions for some great snaps with the street art.
Definitely would recommend this tour for anyone visiting Penang.

Ken gave our family a terrific bike tour during our recent visit to Penang. He was very informative about George Town and its history. Besides the tour, we loved the delicious Indian breakfast (Dosa) and local lunch. We loved seeing the town with Ken and highly recommend his tour!
