We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at The Jen in Georgetown. Every staff member we met was very pleasant and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. We stayed on L16 floor and enjoyed the Club access, especially in the morning for a quiet breakfast option looking over Georgetown. The bed was comfy and the room had everything we needed for a short stay exploring all the incredible food options of Penang. A huge thank you also to the Manager and team who helped us out on our last day at the airport. Recommend!

Jen Hotel has everything you need at a reasonable cost. I requested a room with a view and was given a room with a sweeping view of the city. The rooms are renovated and comfortable and the bathrooms are up to date. The pool and gym area were a pleasant surprise - you could spend hours poolside if you didn't want to venture into Georgetown. The breakfast was extensive and was included in the cost. The lobby area was unfortunately quite noisy. The billiard table was in constant use so it wasn't a good place to relax.

The guests were 99% Chinese so at times I felt as if I was the only westerner there. Also the staff didn't use much politeness when speaking to you. This was the only downside of this hotel. I didn't like being shrieked at when waiting to be seated for breakfast. The room staff were better mannered, but apart from a friendly wave as I checked out, the staff attitude was brisk and discourteous.

Room tip: There is no proper tours desk so book your tours before you go on holiday.

As a Shangri-la member there was no expedite queue at checkin and so we had to wait behind large groups which took forever. Then we were given a room with a double bed when we booked a room with twin beds. I asked for a late checkout and at Marriot and IHG I would automatically be given 2-4pm and here they only gave me until 1pm despite being a Shangri-la member. Forget Jen ! You're better off going to a better hotel !!

Room tip: There are better hotels in Penang than this one !

Standard 4 star hotel with friendly staff -and good city location.

Rooms are bright, comfortable and functional albeit a little aesthetically uninspiring.

Decent food in the hotel restaurant and good gym.

I would stay again particularly for a work trip.

Family staying kids, please take note, there’s no children channel for kids. I strongly suggest that the hotel reconsider the vision four channel. It’s very dated and not many choices for viewers especially those travelling with children to watch.

Requested a bowl from the front desk staff to have soup I bought from a nearby convenient store. Bowl never came and my soup went cold. Quite disappointed. Sigh

The breakfast buffet spread was generally okay/average, but I must applaud for the chicken curry which was quite authentic and flavourful. Both my husband and I loved it.

Overall stay was just so so, nothing to shout about to be honest. We didn’t feel it was that great.
