The room was clean and nice. The corridor was very confusing as I need to make circle before I could reach the room. The hotel staff were ok. There are shop in walking distance. The breakfast was alright nothing to create the wow feeling, it was more of basic stuff.

A 4 star property at 3 star prices, and decent breakfast included. Rooms are modularly spacious and recently renovated. Adjacent to the heritage zone with views high views of the sea or city.

Convenience to many eating places and bars. The 360 rooftop is great for sunset views or for late night drinks. Recurrent hotel with really decent people staffing the place. Also a good collection of restaurants inside the hotel.

Visit to celebrate my wife birthday. When checked in hotel upgrade to deluxe room instead. But unfortunately when planned to visit skybar @ 11am it was not opened yet. :(

Overall:
1) Nice location for food
2) Clean & comfortable for room

The second time I stay at this hotel.
Quite a large hotel with many rooms, the hotel is not new but well maintained, the cleanliness of the rooms are good, hot water okay, fast wifi.
Good room amenities, small but nice pool equipped with a jacuzzi.
Breakfast is quite complete.
location close to places to eat and attractions
In front of the hotel there is a park and a taxi rank.

Room Tip: choose the no smoking room

I have visited Georgetown on several occasions and this is my first stay at the Bayview. I had a standard twin room with nice views of the sea and the small park opposite the hotel entrance. The room itself was clean, basic and comfortable with free internet. I paid online and the only additional charge I had was the local tax that was 6 Ringgits ($1.5 US ).

The staff were friendly, helpful and informative. Taxis were near by and with the hotel you will get rate before you leave to the airport etc. Choose a cheaper local taxi and negotiate price before leaving. It should be about and between 40-45 ($9-$11 US) Ringgits at this time.

Within the Hotel there is a nice Japanese restaurant called the Waka. Very good but make sure you get the early b before 9.30pm as they take last orders about that time. The lounge cafe restaurant was quite good but I did not eat breakfast at the hotel. One great venue here is the 360 revolving restaurant and sky bar, very good indeed. The prices were reasonable for hotel prices.

If you want to eat out and try some local bars etc you do not have to walk far to find an area of several bars and clubs at a intersection crossing if you turn and walk for a few minutes right out of the hotel entrance. An expat bar by the name of the Solo bar is near too. Another great place is the China House ( a bit further to walk) that is an array of integrated cafe, bar, art area, lounge and dining in one long connected building. At one end entrance is a bar and at the other end is probably one of the best cake cafe shops I have ever come across in Asia.

Georgetown: The centre of town has an array of old colonial buildings and a few new. It does look a little shabby at the minute and it good do with a facelift to protect its heritage and make the area look more appealing. However, for photographers is great and you will want to go further a field to places like Penang Hill for great views.

Overall a well located clean and well facilitated hotel that I found was more reasonably priced in comparison to nearby competitors.

Room Tip: I liked higher rooms over looking the entrance and the sea.
