Sofitel Mauritius L'Imperial Resort & Spa
Ranked #7 of 18 Hotels in Flic En Flac
Reviewed 4 August 2012

Sitting on the West side of the island always helps. The outlay of Sofitel is nice, similar to other hotels on the beach. The food in the seafood restaurant is a treat if you like seafood. The buffet was a bit of a disappointment at breakfast and dinner, compared to other similar standard Mauritius hotels. Service for a hotel of this class was not always up to standard. The gym opens slightly late, but should not be a problem for holiday goers.

We stayed at hotel during 22 -28 th July . We were on holiday trip and expected a beautiful beach and good food . For the beach part , i can say 10 /10 rating but on food its 5/10 .
Positives : The check-in was very smooth and quick . The pool , rooms were clean and hygenic . Hotel has a list of activites planned for each day for the guest like archery , pool gmaes , beach volleyball and at evening beach side parties .

Negatives : We were pure vegetarian and despite informing again and again to Chef , we had only 5 out of 50 dishes in buffet dinner as veg and that too were badly prepared . Thanks to hostess " Sheila " we got some masala tea in breakfast . Even their Chinese Restro " MING Court " has better menu for veg than big buffet .

Location : Its located adjacent to chain of 5 star hotels like suger beach , hilton etc. But is almost 1 km away from bus stand , so you need to pick taxis , which are pretty expensive in mauritius .

So if you want to enjoy Beaches and European food , Sofitel is a must go and if veg food is must then plz plan somewhere else

We chose this hotel for our honeymoon since it was located in the serene and calm area of Mauritius.

Our first impression of the hotel was Good. The hotel has lot of open area, Greenery and the View of the Ocean was splendid. The small water body at the entrance could be done more tastefully. The staff was courteous and helpful and helped complete our check in process in minutes. We quickly settled in our Ocean Facing room- The room was large and comfortable, with the interiors styled in a modern decor.

Our room opened to the White Sand Private beach of the hotel. The beach was very well maintained...hotel staff served complementary mocktails and fresh fruits. There are few water activities that one can explore like Glassbottom boat, Snorkeling etc.

The breakfast was elaborate in their banquet style Restaurant but had limited Vegetarian options. The dinner had a theme everyday like Indian, Italian, French etc. Their Chinese restaurant "Ming Court" was a bit of let down with oily starters and limited choice. The Tamassa restaurant had a very picturesque location but again its a haven for a non vegetarian only. Since I was a vegetarian, the restaurant prepared a traditional Indian "Thali" which was very thoughtful of them. We found the price of Cocktails to be on the higher side as compared to other 5 star hotels in Mauritius...

The hotel had very few Indians and majorly had European Guests... We did not feel any discrimination against Indian Guests...

All in all it is was a memorable stay and we would like to come back to this hotel for more holidays!!

Our worst hotel experience ever ! Pathetic services ! Rooms infested with lizards dropping on our infant cot when one calls for help no one comes in till almost 50 mins ..... Go here if u wanna get bad services, unfriendly staff, dated rooms and above all rooms infested by lizards that drop on your bed or ur baby cots. The hotel is cold towards any service issues ! Don't suggest anyone to stay here.. Moved out last night at midnight to Hilton next door which is awesome
