The Aiquan hotel, is one of the oldest hotels in Guanzhou and it shows. The location is good, but the hotel as a whole is in need of a complete refurbishment. The rooms in general are dirty, with poor levels of customer service. I moved rooms 3 times before finding one that did not having peeling wallpaper and the smell of mould. The staff did try to assist but had only limited customer service skills. In all one to avoid.
Located by the Pearl Riverside, its location is so ideal. Close to Shangxia Jiu Lu Pedestrian Street, just about 15 minutes walk. Even Beijing Lu is not far from the hotel, for both shopping areas, it is just about 12 yuan by taxi.
The room is so clean and spacious with adequate facilities. I did not encounter any negative experience while staying here. Even the receptionist can speak good English, unlike other hotel where they need to translate thro' baidu.com (local version similar to google).
For my Muslims brother there are two halal restaurants close to the hotel, one is an Indian restaurant and the other a Chinese/Arabic restaurant . Walk to the right side as U leave the hotel.
Masjid Huaisheng, China's oldest masjid is quite close too, about 14 yuan by taxi.
Please do not hesitate to PM me should U need further info.
Well, i been in many hotels in Asia and this is what you get. Old room, hard bed and semi-dirty bathroom. The hotel are in a big need of an renovation and it smell old, really old everyvere in the hotel. The staf dont speak english, and this is just a place to sleep. It is bad that the hotel is far from subway and you have to walk about 7-10 min to subway and it is not fun in the morning, the evening or the night... I did not see any bugs, that was the good thing with this hotel. My tips for Guangzhou: - Look for a hotel really close to the metro! The town are huge. If you chose this hotel, make sure you got a room with a window...they have many rooms without windows and that is not nice. (the cheep price for "standard" rooms are without windows"
Stay away from this hotel. Room was unclean. Bathroom had mold all over. Toilet handle was partially broken. Entire hotel smelled of mildew, including room. Upon checking into room, there was this sewage on the bathroom floor near the toilet. Found out later that the drain pipes would periodically bubble up sewage.
Old and stale rooms, strong cigarette smoke smell everywhere in the hotel. The rooms do get cleaned but everything is just so old that its uncomfortable.
If you don't mind this, then the view is great if you get a river view room...
Service was friendly but reception spoke very little english, make sure you are equipped with chinese characters etc. for everything you need.
