The Jinyuan Furun Hotel is located within the old city walls of Xi'an very close to the north gate. The hotel offers a resonable standard, clean rooms, ok breakfast and free wifi in the lobby.
It is recommended for tourists wanting to eplore the old city of Xi'an by foot or bicycle. Surprisingly for a touristic city like Xi'an the English cabability of the staff is very limited.

The service is alright if you can speak some Mandarin. Visa card can be accepted. No need to key in any pin number even though the reception requested for your pin number. Just press enter key will do. The morning breakfast is non continental and not so appetising.
The room and toilet are quite nice and clean though. The bed is comfortable. However the room is not so sound proof and smoke free. The external windows are not clean. The corridor is dim.
The lobby is spacious but nothing spectacular.
One thing good about the hotel is that it is located within walking distance to the North city gate. I walk there in the early morning to enjoy the cityview.
It is a very convenient place to stay if you want to explore the city. The bus stop is located just infront of the hotel.

Though fancy, avoid the pretty lobby and main entrance and find a better hotel elsewhere.

The gaggle of girls at the front desk spoke little English and were not overly helpful. There was no internet anywhere in the hotel. The main lobby featured an uncomfortable sitting area and lounge, which was closed most of the day. The in-room spa services were expensive and often painfully executed.

Hallways and elevators reeked of smoke, probably seeped into the thick carpets that made it difficult to roll suitcases. The rooms were smoky. The pink velor carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in decades, and the grime on the window was so thick we couldn't tell if it was raining outside or not. The beds were hard and the closet too narrow to hold hangers. Rooms were hot with poor air circulation.

The one bright spot were the bathrooms, which were clean and updated.

I don't recommend this hotel, especially to non-smokers.
