Loved this hotel. Staff was friendly. Late night Ramen was tasty, breakfast was our favorite. Great way to start the day. Onsen was great, nice location, very close to shops/restaurants/metro. Really loved it, would definitely stay again.

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay here at Dormy Inn Premium Kyoto Ekimae Hotel. We appreciate your comments, and we use all of our guest reviews in order to provide better service. Unarguably one of our hotel's major features is that we are a short 5 minute walk from Kyoto Station, which is a major transportation hub, with trains, buses and taxis, that not only connects you to the rest of Kyoto and the Kansai area, but all of Japan as well. Furthermore, we are very proud to be one of the few hotels in downtown Kyoto to offer a natural hot spring service, which is free of charge for all of our guests. We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback so that we can continuously improve. We also hope that you were otherwise satisfied with our hotel, and that you would use it again in the future.

We stayed at Dormy Inn Premium Kyoto Ekimae during this past fall season. It was hard to book because of high demand during the peak of the fall season. However, you simply cannot beat the location, right across from the Kyoto Station. A simple five minute walk leads to you all the trains and buses that takes you all over Kyoto and other destinations across Japan. On top of that there are a lot of shops and restaurants in the Kyoto Station so life is a lot easier when you come back to Dormy Inn after a long day of touring and just want to get something to eat that is close by.

The rooms were small, but this was not a big deal because we did not come to Kyoto to stay in a hotel room. The rooms were neat and well tended to when we were touring. The hallways and lobby were also very neat and well taken care of. The staff were professional and friendly. It is great that the restaurant serves breakfast every morning, however, it was the same breakfast every morning. But they did have a wide variety of food. Also coming back at night, that hot ramen did go well during a very cold time of the year in Japan (were from Hawaii, so anything below 60 F is cold lol!).

Probably the best thing is the onsen! Dormy Inn is one of the very few hotels that have a natural hot spring onsen. This is the specific reason why we book with Dormy Inn. Once you step into the hot onsen on a cold day all the soreness from all that walking just melts away. The indoor and outdoor onsen was something I did in the morning and when we returned in the evening.

We will be returning customers and will be booking frequently (providing that we can capture the dates that we want to visit)...You won't be disappointed.

About 5-10 min walk from the JR Main train station as you will need to passby the theatre, taxi stand, some hotel, convenient stall, office building, cross the road, pass by another convenient stall to reach to the hotel. The hotel is located at a peaceful area of the street. They provide free ramen which taste great and hot spring which gets crowded at times. The rooms and bathroom are small but that is the general standard in Japan. Overall it was a good experience.

Stayed here for 3 nights with my wife in January. The location of the hotel is very good. It is only a few minutes walk from the train station. Just turn right when you come out of the central exit and follow the front of the station until you get to the road, you will see the hotel just across the road on the right.
The rooms are fairly small with very limited room for storing any clothes. We only travel with cabin luggage so it wasn't too much of an issue for us to keep most of our stuff in our bags, but for travellers with large luggage it would be a bit more cramped. Aside from that the room was fully functional. The shower was very good with good pressure. A couple of things to note are that there were only two pillows on the bed so if you like more you will either have to try and get more from reception or improvise, which is what I did. I just folded the spare blanket that was in the room and used that under the pillow. The other thing is that there are no English channels on the TV. Not a big deal, but some people like to watch TV.
The buffet breakfast was good if you are a fan of Japanese style breakfasts. Western options are basically limited to eggs (fried/omlettes) and toast/pastries. If that is an issue for you, skip paying for it at the hotel as there are many options in and around the train station.
We didn't check out the onsen so can't comment on that.
For dining options in the area there are a number of restaurants on the top 2 floors of the Isetan department store at the station. Of particular note are the noodle places on one of the floors, they are very good. There are also food courts in the shopping area below the station and also below the Kyoto Tower building. We preferred the places below the Kyoto Tower.
It is about a 20 minute walk to places like the Nishiki Market in downtown Kyoto and the Sanjusangen-do temple. If you don't fancy walking there is a pretty extensive bus service around the city.

Great location, loved the area. The rooms very small but good use of space. Staff were wonderful. We felt $250 per night without breakfast was a little expensive but we visited in November which is a busy time due to fall colors and we booked late. I would be happy to stay here again.
