This is beautiful townhouse in exelent location with very nice and stylish interiors, spaceous and comfortable.
May be stair to the second floor is not for everyone (too steep), but it was OK for us and we enjoy our stay in this place overall.
It was by far the best accomodation on our 3 weeks trip around Japan.
Would definetly come back.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m elated to hear that our machiya was your favorite accommodation during your stay in Japan. As for the stairs, they are indeed steep, but they are also one of the charms of the house. When we renovated it, we wanted to ensure that the traditional elements would remain as is. Of course, we put our guest’s safety first and that is why we have a handrail installed. Again, thank you for staying here and we look forward to your next visit and hope you will stay here again. All the best.

Thank you for your feedback. The nearby canal and river are two of my favorite places in the city so I’m glad you were able to take in their beauty and tranquility. I hope that you will have an opportunity to visit Kyoto and stay here again. Warm regards.

Thank you for your detailed comments. I’m incredibly happy to hear that you made the most out of Shikokuan’s convenient location. It definitely has an East meets West, traditional but modern, and quiet but near the heart of the action feel to the place. As for the low overhangs, this is one of the trade-offs for keeping the traditional ambiance to the place. But I am looking into placing some padding for our taller guests’ consideration. We have also just installed WI-fi for easy access to the internet. Again, it was lovely to meet and accommodate you all and I hope you will stay here again on your next visit to Kyoto. Warm regards.
