Me and my friend stayed here for one night only. We arrived in Kyoto early in the morning. They allowed us to store our luggage and let us shower before going for sightseeing. We came back before night to check in. We booked a dorm room. The dorm was very spacious, neat and very clean. It smells good as well. The shower room and the toilet were also very clean. They also provide free tea and coffee. Guest also can use the kitchen and utensils. 10/10 for the overall cleanliness of the hostel. The location is also excellent, just 10 minutes away from Kyoto station and 5 minutes away from Shichijo station. Definitely recommended.

Honestly one of the best hostels I've stayed in. Staff are incredibly friendly (especially Marcelo in the bar!) and have excellent English. Comfy clean rooms and social areas, easy walk from the station and near good bus/train routes. Will definitely return.

Situated within walking distance of Kyoto station.Staff is really friendly and helpful and the common facilities are good and clean. Shared bathrooms/toilets were also kept clean and tidy. We had a double room with private bath which was tiny but still a very reasonable price. A very nice stay at a very nice hostel.

Staff spoke English and were very willing to help. Toilets and showers were cleaned regularly. Plenty of hot water. I was able to open window to get some fresh air. Room was small but this was expected.
Congestion was terrible around reception at times with people checking in and out and others removing shoes, storing in lockers and getting house slippers.

After my Hostel- experience Tokyo where everyone was more for themselves and it was really hard to connect to other travelers, K's House was more like the hostels I know and love: a big common room with enough space to sit, eat and relax together, 2 laundry rooms with reasonable prices (300¥ washing AND drying, including free washing powder) and also a nice and quiet rooftop. I stayed in a 6-bed dorm. The room was cleaned daily and always neat, when I returned after my daytrips. The Kyoto Station is not too far away. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The services they offer are quite handy, if you forgot something of your travel basics they sell it for a bargain at the reception (e.g. Padlocks, cosmetic articles, raincoats and much more). You can also rent a bike at the hostel. I really enjoyed my stay all in all!

ZEN CAFE: it is a really nice, relaxing place to stay after a long hot day in Japan. Food and drinks are absolutely affordable. in the evening they often played some jazzy tunes, something smooth, just right to hang out! Some of the recipes of the food and drinks offered might need a little work to make it more yummy, but the staff is aware of that and working on it. The staff... man I enjoyed the staff the most in ZEN CAFE. One night they shared local ghost stories, on another they taught the guests about the Geisha subculture, or just about food in Japan... they know the places to be,where to actually see a Geisha, where to shop, where to see fireworks or to have other scenic views... it was so nice listening to a local about life in Japan and about the things you need to know, sharing their knowledge with their guests... it never got boring listing to them. If I ever return to Kyoto I might visit ZEN CAFE, to say hello and see if everything's alright. Thanks for those enjoyable evenings I had at this place
