This is a well located ryokan a short taxi ride from the train station. We had a warm welcome from the owner. Our tatami room was on the first floor and was ensuite which we appreciated. The ryokan is very clean and well set up with a quick coin washing machine and dryer. The ryokan provides a Japanese breakfast if ordered in advance. The location is convenient for trams. Old style trams are the main transportation to most Nagaski attractions

Room tip: The big tatami room with the ensuite.

My niece and I stayed two nights in the TAKE room, which is spacious and clean with attached bathroom, at a very reasonable price. Mr and Mrs Fujiwara are so welcoming and lovely people. We arrived quite late and did not order breakfast in advance but Fujiwara-san managed to arrange it for us.

Nagasaki was our last stop and we had stayed in a couple of other ryokans which were more luxurious but Fujiwara Ryokan was the one which made us feel really at home. It also feels more like a traditional ryokan to us. We love the smell of the tatami.

We were also very lucky to be there during the Kunchi Festival. We were awoken by what sounded like gunshots(!) pretty early one morning, and realised later it was the Kunchi Festival and there was a colourful procession right below our room. We were so lucky to catch it.

Breakfast was awesome, beautifully presented and delicious.

The only negative thing I can think of is that there is no elevator, so no good for those with heavy luggage.

From Nagasaki train station, we bought the one-day tram pass from the information counter, and then took tram no. 3 to Sakuramachi tram station, which is just one stop away. You can walk but much easier to take the tram.

From Sakuramachi tram station, it is about 3 mins walk away.

I would recommend this ryokan.

we stayed 4 nights at the ryokan which is very modern, a big room, very friendly owner, in a silent area just 1 min. walking from the tram station or 7 minutes from the JR Station. we really recommend this ryokan, the price was cheap for such a big room and modern, new infrastructur. would love to go back!

This small ryokan ticks a lot of boxes. It's extremely handy to trains, trams, and restaurants as well as being located in a quiet street away from the traffic. While there is no large shared (onsen style) bath it doesn't promote itself as such and you should view it as a small and modest guesthouse. Viewed from this perspective it really is excellent. The rooms are clean and comfortable (some have their own conventional bathrooms) and the windows (at least in our room) opened to provide fresh air. The tatami mats and bedding are extremely comfortable, and if you do happen to be there during very hot weather there is an air-conditioner. Well there was in the “TAKE” room in which we stayed, cannot really comment on the others.
The absolute highlight of our stay was the warmth and friendliness of our hosts, Mr and Mrs Fujiwara. Master Isamu Fujiwara will greet you on every arrival and wish you well each time you go out.
As this ryokan is quite small and very popular it books out quickly, so do plan ahead and book as early as you can.

Room tip: The Fujiwara's web site provides basic information and pictures of the rooms, do avail yourself of this info.
