Poor maintenance

Review of The RED
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 20 Sept 2019via mobile
This is the third time we stay in this hotel. Previously my wife wrote a review on this hotel with great review. However, after 10 months, a lot of things has changed.

First, this hotel car park is at the back of hotel for RM10 per day for in house guest. We are fine with the rate. Problem is when we asked the staff where is it( we forgot the direction ), he just pointed to back and ask us go ourself. Last time they actually helped us to park our car. They should at least show direction properly.

Second, toothbrush and toothpaste will be provided on red. Previously was included. We do not mind but at least need to be stated. We can bring our own.

Third, the Chinese tea set still available but no Chinese tea provided. When we requested they said need to request personally also. Subsequent day the staff totally do not know this thing exists.

Fourth, we booked direct via their website. They stated there September promotion with lunch voucher with ABC frappe. However, when we claim the lunch from the restaurant, the lunch is only rice and potato which the original set includes chicken. Restaurant staff told the frappe also no more promotion. In my opinion, if the hotel want to put this as promotion, please do it properly. If promotion ended, shudnt include it in the webpage. We knew that this is free, And before we booked this hotel we did not know abt the promotion. It would be better if they dun given the lunch at all. At least guest dun felt cheated.

Last but not the least, we applied the sirocco club member online and no reply from them at all. Staffs also duno anything abt this program.

Dun think will stay here again

Hotel Red is conveniently located in the center of KL with easy access everywhere in the city (metro is 5-6 min away.
)Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Good bed linen and pillows. Coffee/tea making facilities in the room, as well as complimentary water. WIFI signal is steady. There is a convenience store and bakery on-site.

But there are some buts...
I didn't feel welcomed in the hotel at all. Not that staff was rude, but they are absolutely uninterested in making you feel welcomed. Rooms, though big, aren't cozy, the design is kind of "cold". Upon check-in, hotel charges you 100-200 myr deposit (I've no idea what for). And only during the check-out they tell you that you'll get your money back only after 2-3 weeks. (I have paid it by card).
My room was clean upon arrival, but on the second day of my stay cleaning was barely done. The shower was leaking heavily (where the shower hose attached to the shower head) which was inconvenient. I didn't report it to the reception because I was busy. Another question - why staff who cleans and obviously sees it, doesn't do anything? Also at the end of your stay they charge 10 myr (government tax) for each night. I had a very early check-out and asked if I could pay it the night before, not to waste time at 5.40 in the morning. They refused with very unclear reason. Unfortunately, this is the hotel I don't want to come back to.

This hotel is well located in the city.
Reception is on the 11th floor. We had a great room on the 18th floor which was very spacious and comfortable.
Breakfast was on the top floor. It was an excellent buffet with great views over the city.

The room was large and had some nice features-USB ports, nice tea and coffee station. It is nearby a monorail station and there are some good restaurants walkable but the area/KL in general is not the easiest to navigate(lack of crosswalks, sidewalks cracked and lots of motorbikes everywhere). There are only 2 elevators so it can take forever for the lift to come. My biggest complaint is that although the hotel says it has a beer garden, roof bar, restaurant none of it was ever open during our 4 day stay. Even the coffee shop and convenience store would randomly be closed or you would stand there waiting and no one would ever come to wait on you (I stood in the coffee shop for over 5 minutes one day and no one ever came to help me). Because the hotel is tucked away our grab driver had some trouble finding it which added travel time. I would recommend staying in the KLCC area where they have bridges for walking and there is more stuff around.

A very well located hotel, only 5 min walk to local metro which connects to any tourist attraction. Surrounded by small restaurants which seem to be part of a "trendy" new district. We tried tapestry for breakfast (highly recommend), the pizza place (pricey but good) and Joloko (again fab food even if a little pricey).
Back to the hotel... Spacious room, comfy bed and a great view. The room is very well equipped with nice toiletries, a safe and hair dryer.
The roof top pool view is magnificant. Note; the bar was closed while we were there which was a shame.

We have given it 5* because at less than 35€ a night the price quality ratio was amazing. However its worth noting that the reception is on floor 11 which is a bit annoying as it makes taking one of the two elevators fairly slow. It was also a little noisy at night from the street and possible nearby club.
