Renaissance Hotel kuala lumpur
I stayed at this hotel for five days at the end of March 2012.
I arrived at around 11pm and check in was a breeze since I had prepaid my hotel through Expedia. The lady at the reception was trying to sell me an upgrade but we did not quite understand each other so in the end I was not sure what were the additional benefits for the additional $75 per night, so I ditched the upgrade offer.
My room was on the 16th floor facing the twin towers, good views I must say. The property looks a bit tired and it especially shows in the corridor carpets which can do with some replacement.
The bedding was very comfortable I enjoyed many long hours of total relaxation.
The hotel serves a buffet style breakfast and I did enjoy the variety. The ethnic food section was a blast for me.
One night I ordered room service, some sea food mixed grill , it was good but pricey.
The buffet dinners are probably good for once or twice, otherwise they are very repetitive. The mussels were quite a hit.
The swimmingly pool on the fourth floor was very nice and was not crowded when I was there.
As mentioned by fellow travelers, the main drawback for this property is that wireless Internet is only available in the reception area,  rooms have wired Internet which was inconvenient since I no longer carry a laptop.
Hotel is close to fine dining options, shopping and night life.
I would recommend the hotel to my close friends  or relatives.

AMBIENCE
I'm a frequent guest at Mariott hotels but had never stayed at a Renaissance. My impression was that these hotels were meant to be a lot posher and grander than the average Marriott. Whilst this place is very comfortable it does seem to lack any kind of personality. It feels very generic and quite bland but is good value in the heart of the city. It doesnt help that there is isnt really a central lobby reception area to give it a hear and a focus. Furnishings overall are a littel drab and shopworn. This place has seen better days and needs refurbishment.
We stayed in what is supposed to the refurbished East Wing- but other than a plasma TV and wireless internet (free for Marriott Rewards members) I couldnt see what was 'new'.

ROOM: spacious with king sized bed and room for anothe single bed if you have a child with you. The room is carpeted and most of the bedding appears to be feather based so definitely not an allergen free environment. Asthmatics and allergy prone guests should take note this is high dust mite enviro. We were on a non smoking floor and unlike some reviewers could not detect any smoke coming though the AC vents.
Room service: We had to call twice in an hour to request bedding for the extra bed
Mini bar- is the traditional fridge with plenty of room to place your own drinks in.
Gym- is fully equipped and the pool is amazingly spacious for a city hotel.
Spa- again you'll pay over the odds for a massage here but its clean and reliable.

BATHROOM: Good Shower pressure and spacious bathroom but the place is definitely due for re-grouting and at least a new shower curtain. Even the taps did not appear to have the usual water saving filters and in many cases were due for descaling.

LOCATION An offical airport taxi from KUL is 102 RINGITT. The hotel itself is just 10 mins walk from Petronas Towers and the Suria shopping centre. The excellent Pavillion Mall in Bukit Bintang is a 10 Ringitt cab ride. Chinatown- which we felt was overated and smelly is just a few minutes away too. Transportaton TIP: if there are more than two of you I would recommend metered taking taxis- especially in the off peak hours. They are very cheap. A taxi to the Batu Caves shouldnt cost more than 20 Ringitt. On the return negotiate hard on the fare or better still insist on a metered ride or you will pay in excess of 50 ringitt.

EATING: We try to avoid chain hotel dining where possible. There's a traditional outdoor eating place called NZ (a Hawker style restaurant) where you can stuff yourself for just 3 dollars with tasty local fare. We ate there at 1am so great for late arrivals. The food court on the top (4th) floor of the Petronas (Suria) shopping centre is where all the locals eat.

Even closer by (5 mins walk)- behind Rajhi Bank and next to a Subway sandwich shop, is a money exchange which offers much better rates than the hotel or the exchanges in KLCC.

Overall a comfortable stay in a 48 hour city. If you are on a business trip and have family with you its a good option.

This is a terrific hotel close to the Twin Towers, in fact our room had a wonderful view overlooking the Towers and at night it is particularly amazing. Just a great location within easy walking distance to most of the major sights in the KL CBD and the fantastic shopping. The hotel is also very good value money wise compared to some of the other hotels in this area. The rooms are comfortable, very clean, with daily maid service, do ask for the Twin Towers view or overlooking the pool. The pool must be one of the largest in KL it is huge, surrounded by gardens, has a swim to bar and also a bar beside the pool. There is also a gym for guests and a spa. The evening buffet is great value including seafood, local and western food, soups, sushi, dessert or you can order a la carte. My husband and I always choose to stay here whether on business or pleasure.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Petronas Twin Towers ideally or the swimming pool. Specify nonsmoking if you...

This was our last hotel on our trip home. We stayed 2 nights 3 days. We had a very nice deluxe room over looking the pool on the tenth floor. Great king bed. They had the best pillows that I have ever had in a hotel!!. We found all staff we came across to be friendly and helpful. Any request were met promptly. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choice and was until 11am, which was great for us sleepy heads. Kuala Lumpur has some great shopping centres and the Petronas towers and shopping centre is within about 10mins walking distance. There is a currency exchange on the lower ground floor. Recommend to eat a Madame kwans on the fourth?floor. Shopping is great there (especially if a sale is on). We had afternoon tea at the hotel which was lovely. Overall our experience was good and would stay here again. We only stayed as a couple this time, so not sure if they have two bedroom rooms or interconnecting for families as this is what we would usually stay in.

Room Tip: Choose a deluxe room with King Bed, ask for overlooking pool
