Tao Chinese Cuisine
Ranked #334 of 4,428 Restaurants in Kuala Lumpur
Certificate of Excellence
Cuisines: Chinese
Description: "Tao", which means peach in Mandarin, is the new restaurant located on level one of the hotel and is immediately recognizable with a vibrant design using the bloom of the pale pink April peach flowers as a signature motif and a spectacular cloud-like inspired ceiling giving an impression of dining under the stars. Its most distinguishable and memorable feature however are the hundreds of carefully selected ornate Chinese teapots that have been collected from around Asia and are displayed for diners to enjoy, inspect and purchase should they wish.

With an extensive menu I opted for the tenderloin with foi gras, shallot and capsicum. What I was served was a dish with little tenderloin but gobs of mushroom. The soup of the day, I was told was white radish. What I was served was seafood with chicken. ?? Can't figure this one out. No doubt the restaurant wants to increase profits at the expense of quality. This is shameful, and never again will I eat here.

Fortunately the manager removed the soup and tenderloin from my invoice.

Our server was versed with the menu. She suggested the dishes and how much to order. It may have been a bit much. Tone down when you order. Anyway if there is insufficient food you can always add one. The rooms are huge but as we passed some, we noticed that it was a smoking room. The door was not shut so the smoke travelled outside. Not sure if the restaurant will advise the patrons not to smoke or if they insists on smoking.

Dessert was a disappointment. Some ordered the durian dessert which was not very tasty. I had the mango dessert which is nothing to shout about either. Good experience but for the price, you can find better food elsewhere unless u are looking for the atmosphere.

Especially with spicy food to delight the palate!
Their sweetcorn and crab soup gets you in the mood, seasonal mixed vegetables are to die for and I'm loving their large shrimp in a spicy glaze of fresh vegetables.
A tasters delight !
Happy guest....

Because I'm staying at the Intercontinental it was convenient to eat at the hotel.

This time I went for the Chinese cuisine. We ordered the shrimps, fresh fish, rice and some fried vegetables.

And it tasted really good. It's a bit expensive. But it was definitely worthy.

The staff was great, although I was getting a bit uncomfortable when the staff is looking at you while you are eating.

Exquisite surroundings and impeccable food mark this amazing restaurant. This is far from your stereotypical Chinese restaurant with cheap furnishing as this place is luxurious and lavish with private areas too.

It is a bit dark and formal for my liking, despite the ceiling lights mimicking a cloud and the odd splash of colour, but that adds to the ambience too. And you must check out the amazing array of teapots that have been collected from all over china. A nice touch.

The food was excellent, classic Chinese with a modern twist and very well presented.
