If you are in Kuala Lumpur, it's definitely worth trying this claypot chicken rice. It is cooked with charcoal the traditional way. The salted fish that came with it is a nice big chunky one. It is fragrant with Chinese sausage. You do have to wait about 10-15mins. I love it that the place is air-conditioned and comfortable. If you are using Google map to find the place, it is going to take you on circles as the road has been changed to a one way street.

First time trying out and it’s been amazing. The prices are really good and the owner is friendly. We had 3 clay pots, chicken wings, lotus soup which is a must try, kai lan which was done perfectly. Hint is that do reserve and come early otherwise you have to wait really long for a table or food to be served.

The short hair auntie who take order is very rude and look down on people.
While some of the dishes we order is not yet serve(2 more to go, just 2 claypot rice and 2 iced tea on the table for 4 persons) , she is being sarcastic question us why we order so less so ask us why didnt we order somemore.
Please improve your customer service and also want to let you know that your foods tasted average.

Heun Kee is one of those old stalwarts of (relatively) cheap, good and traditional chinese food. The lady boss Mrs Heun is very proud of her unique surname, and still goes into the shop everyday. Ordering is easy - all the main attractions are on photos on the wall. They are most famous for their claypot chicken rice (even if you go alone , you can order their smallest pot for one - the wait staff will advice you on the size of the rice to order, depending on the number of pax and the other dishes you order). The rice is parboiled and finished off on charcoal stoves outside the shop.

Some other dishes i highly recommend - their fried chicken wings, vinegar pork trotters (rare find, it’s a popular post-pregnancy/confinement dish for the Chinese), stewed duck with ginger (the duck will fall off the bones if done right, and the entire ginger slices will be soft enough to eat), and my absolute favourite – pepper pork belly soup with chicken feet (you can ask them not to put in the chicken feet but it’s a good source of collagen). Heun Kee’s pepper soup is among the spiciest I’ve had in a shop (this is the traditional taste and not toned down). They also have other nice soups like lotus root with peanut, and watercress soup. They are regularly featured in nearly every Astro AEC shows about old restaurants, so avoid going within 2 weeks of these shows as the shop will be packed.

Great charcoal fired clay pot chicken, vegetables, to fu and peppery soup. Except for the long wait it’s a great experience.
