Lots of great artisan shops before you get to the castle. The copper and Turkish lamp shops are just great. The castle itself provided some breathtaking views of Ankara on clear days... I suggest spring and summer for the clearest views.

History place, no entrance fee, nice to explore the city from high, not recommended for kids on stroller or disability , many local gifts sellers in the way selling hand craft
Not impressive. We expect more than few walls and inside places with very bad smell. The old houses from around are nice.
The castle (or better the citadel) of Ankara has a small village within its walls. The citadel has a nice birth view over the city of Ankara. It has small streets and nice tea houses.
This very old castle, dating back to the Roman, Seljuk, and Ottoman Empire, is located on a hill, with superb views on the city.
Entrance free
Careful, no barriers, risk to fall!
I guess you can come in at any seasons, but certainly beautiful on sunny clear blue sky. The best place to view the city of Ankara. The entry to the Castle is free, relatively easy to climb and worth the view! After hiking, make sure you stop by to the Kebab across the castle for lunch named Oltu Kebabi. So yummy! Enjoy!
