This is basically an upscale hotel restaurant. Convenience and superior waitstaff. These folks are able to adapt to each table and provide just the right amount of competency and snob appeal to match the guests. The food did not match the service. Interesting menu and some well thought out chef specials, but I was a little disappointed with the choice and preparation of my salmon fillet. Don't drop in here if you just want a sandwich.

This hotel is the largest building in Ashland's central district, and well-located for walking to Lithia Park, many small shops and cafes. Ashland is a very small town, but always bustling, as it hosts an annual Shakespeare festival and several music events. Although our booking was well in advance, it was during the Shakespeare festival, and our room was New York small. The lobby could have displayed the historic exhibits to better advantage. The staff showed the required amount of accommodation but not an iota more.

The below questions seem to apply only to the restaurant within the hotel, not the hotel itself?

Lovely, classic old hotel in a great location with some of the most efficient staff you'll find in southern Oregon - or anywhere for that matter.

The decor and room amenities are lovely - room was spotless, quiet and comfortable. A/C system must be fantastic because even though the air outside choked you with wildfire smoke; you couldn't smell a whiff of it in the room.

This place is a "keeper" for future Ashland visits - continental breakfast included with room was more than adequate.

My wife and I have come here 1-2 times per year for a decade plus--all for OSF. The location is great; the rooms and service are very solid and predictable. Ambiance is rather dated but it has a great breakfast, afternoon and post-play snacks, and convenient parking. This year the elevator was out for a few weeks so it meant hiking up first 6 and then 9 flights of stairs (not in the same room for the total stay). They had help....but we're both in our mid-70s so this was an added workout.

Although we didn't stay at the Ashland Springs Hotel, my husband and I recently spent an evening there while attending his Ashland High School class of 1967 reunion in the ballroom. The hotel is beautiful and the staff was friendly. There is paid parking behind the hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening including dinner and wine.
