Four adults and a nine year old enjoyed learning more about the history of Texas and the Texan spirit at this excellent museum. We enjoyed two short historical films and many exhibits spanning far more than we expected.

We spent about two and a half hours but a history buff without a nine year old along could happily spend most of a day. We appreciated the professionalism and variety of exhibits

Even if you only go to see the downstairs La Belle exhibition, this is well worth the admission price. It has the excavated remains from a 17th century shipwreck and a great little documentary explaining the history of the crew on board. It really brings history to life and was absolutely fantastic. Elsewhere there's a great timeline of Texas history and lots of cool artefacts.

Well worth a visit. On three floors so lots to see. Mostly in regard to the history of Texas. There's a theatre that shows a 20 minute film of the state's origin. Spent over two hours there and you need at least that to see everything.

We visited the museum on March 28 and found it very thorough in recounting Texas history. The most interesting part for us was the remains of the recovered ship La Belle from the La Salle expedition and the artifacts. Don from the museum thoroughly explained the recovery operation and the history of the expedition. Definitely take the time to chat with him to learn the details.

Thank Dave H
