While visiting Sugar Shack take the opportunity of viewing the Norman Rockwell museum. He sure to check the event calendar for days when you can meet with models used in his paintings when Norman Rockwell resided in Arlington. There are prints of your favorite paintings

This is an unexpected find in a place you would think only sells maple syrup. The exhibit takes up half of the building's space. Although there are no original Norman Rockwell paintings, there are great displays with copies of his paintings, along with stories from the locals who were subjects portrayed in them. When he moved here in 1939, he quit using professional models and was able to use friends and neighbors who lived nearby as his subjects. He said he loved living out here because the people were the "real America" he liked to paint. If you are interested in Norman Rockwell, this is well worth stopping to visit.

Loved visiting the Sugar Shack and loved the Rockwell Exhibition. It was wonderful seeing the pictures of real life people next to the Saturday Evening Post covers.

I loved seeing all the Norman Rockwell paintings and the comments but the highlight for me was hearing Mr. Donald Fisher tell the story of how he became the model of the young man in the painting, BREAKING HOME TIES. He also told us about how the original painting was misplaced when the purchaser ( another artist) painted a copy and hid the original.

Was a nice view but it was much better when the Exhibit was in it's own bldg. in Arlington. Better layout and awesome host was there too
