Staff was respectful and friendly, so no problems there. The room on the other hand is the reason for 3 stars. A roach was in one of the drawers of the dresser. The bathroom wall next to the toilet had not been cleaned in a while. Needed to be vacuumed when I checked in. Although I requested a non-smoking room, it wreaked of cigarette smoke. Loved the location since it was approximately a 20 minute walk to the Huntington Metro Station which provided great access to the D.C. area.

The only good thing about this hotel was the staff. The hotel was disgusting. My room had a two beds and one had makeup on the sheets. There was pubic hair and a dirty wash cloth left in the bathroom.

The Virginia Lodge has seen better days, but the site just off several highways is a perhaps the only plus. It was halfway clean, the trudge up cement stairs was scary and the parking lots visited by officers.
On the positive side, if one uses the facility only for sleeping, the accommodations will pass muster.

Room Tip: Downstairs -YES!

This motel is situated on highway 1, between DC and Mount Vernon. Fifteen minutes walk and half an hour on the metro gets you down town.
The motel was not particularly attractive but it was much cheaper than the Holiday Inn next door. We paid $81 a night and stayed two nights in a double queen (room 133) on the 1st floor. The room needed thorough cleaning, but it was spacious, had comfortable beds and was equiped with a fridge and a microwave. We also needed an iron and board which were immediately provided to us as well as more coat hangers. The staff at the front desk were really willing to help and if we had needed anything else, we are sure they would have done their best to satisfy us. While visiting Washington DC, we safely left our car parked at the motel.
So if you are looking for a reasonably-priced motel within easy travelling distance from DC, this could suit you.

Room Tip: A room away from the road is quieter.

I had a conference in DC to attend, but DC hotel prices are insanely high...but 30 minutes on the Metro brings you to the Virginia lodge.

This is a budget hotel, but the TV works, the air conditioning is cold, and it's walking distance from the Huntington Metro. And the staff is friendly and helpful. I'll be back!
