Overall a fairly decent hotel. The gym area was pretty decent compared to most hotels. The room was kept a little on the cold side but is good if you plan on working up a sweat. The breakfast was pretty standard for a free hotel breakfast. It's about what you would expect from a Hampton Inn. The rooms are about standard size, not bigger or smaller than comparable hotels. The beds are a bit on a the firm side. Not my personal preference. Extremely easy access to highways and old town Alexandria. The hotel showed wear and tear in some areas but wasn't all that bad.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the highway

Would definitely recommend this Hampton Inn & Suites to anyone wanting to visit DC. We decided to take in DC as a family vacation. The hotel is clean and neat. Staff is EXCELLENT - always friendly and helpful. Breakfast was EXCELLENT - enough so that I really wish they served dinner as well! They provide a free shuttle service to and from a Metro station located about 2 miles away. The Metro gives you direct access to the downtown DC area - just a block away from most of the buildings that tourists want to visit. All in all, it was a great family vacation and, since we didn't have time to see everything we wanted to see, we will be back!

Beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept in!! Cleanest rooms. All the staff were very friendly & accommodating. Chris @ the front desk, was super when my daughter got sick & we had to spend an unscheduled night there. He found us another room just down the hall & we were able to move right away. I was amazed when he remembered who we were the next morning; even asked my daughter how she was feeling! I would recommend to anyone & everyone!

Long weekend with my husband. The hotel is in a great location with short drives to Mount Vernon, Fort Washington, D.C., National Waterfront and downtown Alexandria. The room was clean and comfortable, the complimentary breakfast was more than ample and the free shuttle to downtown Alexandria and the Metro is a great service to offer. The employees were all very pleasant and helpful.

The hotel is situated at the junction of a couple of major highways and within walking distance of a couple of bus routes. The shuttle service is nice. One major drawback for those not driving is the lack of amenities closer to the hotel. There's one restaurant (a reasonably priced buffet) across the street from it, and a couple of restaurants on the walk from the Huntington metro station, but that's pretty much it in the area. Not at all the hotel's fault (but for geography) but if walking or transit dependant can be an issue.

The included breakfast is nice, though the eggs are powdered. But then again, its a free breakfast, so you can skip the eggs. It's about a 20 minute walk to the Huntington metro station. The staff of the hotel is excellent, the rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The fitness facility is decent.
