It is very easy to access from Marina do. Davi. Just take a water taxi (basically it is some sort of public transport), which costs 12Rs per person per way. Arriving at the marina you can already see it. (Don't get caught by any tourist guides! At the hotel when I asked at the lobby, one overheard and he tried to rip me off by telling me that there is no transportation except for his friend that would charge 250Rs...)

The museum itself is quite interesting. The guide explains all well and takes her time. The house is just gorgeous.

Getting back is as easy as getting to it. Ask the guide or the security guide and they radio the water taxi.

A stop at Praia de Lua is also very nice! This is on the way back and just tell the taxi.

We stopped here as part of a larger overall tour of the area. I would have to say the tour was very well done, informative and worth the time we spent there. The place is actually an old movie set that recreated what an actual latex extraction plantation might have looked like back in the early days. The movie, Al Silva, tells the story of a cruel Portuguese plantation owner Cornell Castro and his unhappy wife and their time spent developing and living on the plantation. The sets that were recreated give a good representation of life (and death) on the plantation. Some of the made for the movie drama leaks into the tour but overall it is very well done and worth your time.

I recommend this place. You are going to see how people lived in the rubber time in the Amazon. The house is amazing with wonderful furniture (I saw a German piano there!). The guide was very friendly and showing all of the aspects of day by day life. You can see rubber trees and also how they extract and prepared the latex. I loved the trip.

This museum, a 30 minutes, 12 real (one way) boat ride from the marina de Davi is incredible. The contrast between the opulence of the main house and the abject poverty of the bonded labor in the forest is shocking to discover. Portuguese only

This museum was actually a set built for a movie, made after a real village known for latex extraction of the Seringueira trees. It is cheap to visit and there is a guide explaining everything about this era. I'm not sure if there is any guide able to speak in English. The most fun part is the little trip you have to make to get there. You need to reach a marina in the Ponta Negra region that everybody knows its location and pick up a "bus boat" there. Just tell the captain you want to be dropped in the museum. They have a radio there to call for the boat when you want to go back, and you have to pay a small fee for each trip. On your way you will see some river activety, river beaches and floatings businesses, and in the museum you will be able to touch real rubber and see the latex dripping off the trees.
