The staff gave excellent service and this was by far the best hotel in the area. Salvador is reflected in the atmosphere of the hotel and its gracious staff and atmosphere.
The breakfast is sumptuous and having dinner there is a delight. Hearts of palm spaghetti is a definite go. Do try it.

This hotel was renovated with lots of annotation to detail. You feel like back in history when the Portuguese founded Salvador as the capital of Brazil. The whole hotel is in colonial style, all rooms are named after places that the Portuguese colonised in the past. We stayed in room Goa with a view to the square in front of the hotel. Very nice and less noisy than expected. The room was very spacious with a wooden floor and original furniture. A massive bed of wood and iron was the center of everything. The bathroom is nice and big and everything is very clean. Breakfast is served in the restaurant (which I can only recommend) and it's real great. You get fresh fruits, a juice, bread and butter, ham and cheese, cereals, yogurt, eggs - any kind and always a local speciality. I'm sure you will like it! During the breakfast you can enjoy the small yard with the fountain. All the staff is very friendly and very helpful and most of them speak english quite well. They could help us with all the questions we had during our stay. Furthermore everything is just around the corner and close enough to walk. Pelourinho with it's sights and beautifully renovated houses, the elevator to go down to the lower city, restaurants, bars and lots of places where you can enjoy live music at night. It was the best hotel during our 3 weeks trip through Brazil and I can only recommend it. When I'm next time in Salvador I will definitely come back to this hotel!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. There were some mixed reviews so I was a bit apprehensive. This place is great! Staff is very friendly, the service is great, the rooms are clean and well done, breakfast is AMAZING (don't miss it!), wi-fi worked great, and the location is exceptional. If you are expecting a pool area, stay somewhere else because the pool area is very small, but you don't stay in the historical section of Salvador for the pools; there is too much to see walking around and exploring.

First of all, the staff at the Villa Bahia are wonderful. The accommodations are superb. The food at the restaurant is great (and the breakfast is enough food to feed an army). Even the decor is fabulous. The location is spectacular - right across from St. Francis of Assisi church.

For me - a hotel of this cache should, when it advertises WIFI, have it available. Now, if that is not a priority for you - stay here. If it is be ready for the typical "the provider is having issues, it will be ready tomorrow" and then tomorrow comes - "sorry, tomorrow" and so on. Still....wonderful place.
