You should definitely go!
I'd give it a 5, but I think the plastic garbage was off-putting. Still, you won't see it until after you've had your "awe, its sooo beautiful" moment. Enjoy!

And walk slowly from the boat so you get a chance to see some monkeys on the way there. They're usually hiding in the trees.

We walked one way and got the boat back. The walk/hike took around 3 hours and is clearly sign posted. It was probably the sweatiest we have ever been, but did make the sight of the white sands and blue water even more amazing! The hike is hard and tiring, you do need proper footwear and not flip flops as you are scrambling up and down very steep jungle hills at most points, you get to cross 2 other beaches as well which is nice. The beach itself is beautiful - very picture perfect. If you walk up to the far end you could easily have 100m of beach to yourself. There are five or so little stalls selling crisps, drinks and sandwiches (these sell out quickly) but no toilets. The boat back, which only goes to the 2nd beach due to the shallow waters of Lopes Mendes - and then is a 20 min walk through the jungle, was 20 rs if bought in advanced (when arriving on the 2nd beach) or 25 rs if bought when you wanted to leave. The last boat goes back at 7pm. Would recommend a trip to this beach by boat or foot as part of any visit to the island.

One of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil. Light and thin sand.. very clean water, sometimes with strong waves.
very nice to have a walk along the sand.
You can reach there by boat or by foot starting from Abraão's village (it's a 2.5-3h tracking, with medium level difficulty)
On Lopes Mendes, there is not much structure of bars/restaurants, only some local people selling some soft drinks and snacks. And that makes the beach more calm and quiet, good for a good resting time. Maybe you'll want to carry your own drinks and food - if so, take your trash away with you and collaborate with environment preservation.

A must! We found the beach even much better than Ipanema and Copacabana. The sand is softer, the water clear and there were less heavy waves compared to our experience in Rio (which was already really really good). We were here in Dec, some foreign tourists and lots of locals but overall not nearly as crowded as Rio's beaches.

We hiked to this beach which took over 2 hours. Tough hike for the first 50 minutes or so as it is uphill. Some cool views and some good exercise. Bring plenty of water and a snack for when you get to LM. There are beers, snacks ect there but prices are a bit higher than average considering where you are located!
