We stayed 7 days at this hotel. Don't take a room with street view because the noise from the neighbouring clubs won't let you sleep. We had the essentials but nothing else and facilities seemed to be very old. My mum and I were staying but they kept leaving only one towel for us both. The staff was nice but for the price payed it didn't seem worthwhile.

Good location for downtown and close to Metro. Basic hotel but clean and for the price is pretty good. The morning breakfast is standard fare, fruit, cold cuts, bread, juice & scrambled eggs all included. Many homeless people sleeping everywhere and any where but they don't hassle you. There are lots of restaurants around also. It can be a little noisy at night depending on your room I guess. I was on 6th floor and wifi only worked in lobby not in my room. It is quite far from Cocacabana & Ipanema but as I mentioned it is 1 block from Metro and a taxi is pretty reasonable. The staff were pleasant and there was always someone who spoke English working.

Right in the middle of Downtown Rio. Although difficult to find as it is situated on a narrow street where our taxi couldn't go. Very unimpressive at first. Reception doesn't understand a word of English. The Manager had to come out for our check-in. The lift is an old model and makes a lot of noise while travelling. The rooms are clean, although a bit outdated looking. Comfortable, small sized bed, a small CRT TV, powerful AC and a small bathroom.
The whole unit didn't have a power outlet, excepting the one besides the wash basin in the bathroom, very strange in this era as you have several items to charge. Wifi speed is satisfactory.
There were many local eateries just below the hotel which serves good regional food, but if you have any leftovers to pack them, don't ever ask for it as the packing costs more than the price of the food.
Breakfast is adequate, I would say good. The hotel arranged for our tours to Pao de Acucar and Christ The Redeemer and the prices are reasonable. Overall, I would recommend it if you are not to finicky.

I stayed here in January 2014 during my trio to Rio. It is a nice reasonable place to stay in Rio compared to other beach front hotels. It has very friendly staff and they are very helpful. I got all my tours arranged through the hotel staff. They also provided me good guidance about the city regarding what to do and what not to do. The hotel has good breakfast as part of the hotel nightly charge. Most of the amenities are easily accessible. The beach is a couple blocks away from the hotel. Overall it is a nice place in Rio to stay.

Stayed here for over a week during the world cup.

While not in the main tourist areas of Rio, Copacabana is an easy 10 minute bus ride away, and there is also a subway stop nearby. Lapa is also walking distance away.

RIght outside the hotel there are several eating options, plenty of bbq'd meats, rice, bean stew, chips and beer to be had!!

Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breaky was the best of the 5 hotels I stayed in while in Brazil.

I have also rated the Oceano Copacabana Beach hotel. Considering only the quality of the hotel (not say easy access to the beach), I would rate Itajuba as the better.
