Honestly I personally love the leave in a quite and relaxant place when I come back from night life, and Barra da Tijuca represent all that. Novotel Barra da Tijuca il located 10 meters from the beautiful beaches of that area. Service is excellent and room comfortable. You can take the bicycles that hotel gives at your disposition and use it to easily move along the coast. True, if you wanna enjoy the nightlife in Ipanema or Copacabana you need a taxi, but in only 20 minutes (night time..during the day traffic jam can increases the time) you can be there. No prices after a full day in the chaotic Copacabana to come back in Tijuca and have a quite and relaxant sleep. Recommended in terms of service and location. Recommended for family as well

I like all the services at the Hotel, very professional employees. The room room is clean, good installations, in front off the wonderful beach. The restaurants had many food options.

We stayed here for 2 nights while in Rio.
The beach is right across and the hotel has a section to itself. Lots of shacks and restaurants nearby.
Can't comment on public transport, we had a car. Lapa was a 40 minute drive. The Christ and other sites about 20/25 mins. Copacabana and Ipanema are close by.
The breakfast was a decent spread.
Reception is 24 hours and resourceful with taxis etc.
No complaints except a kettle in the room would have helped.

I was 1 week for business purposes in that hotel and I ve to state that from Accor group I was expecting more.
The room and shared area are clean, but I m generally disapointed that the majority of the employees so not speak a single word of English, even waitres.
Check in and out was taking more than 15 minutes (even if I m a registered Accor member) and at the end they told me that the invoice will be sended via e-mail (still waiting).

I used my credit card once in Rio (Novotel Rio, Barre da Tijuca).and when I got home someone was using my card number for an expensive dinners in Sao Paulo. I contacted the hotel to share my experience and they basically they didn't care and said it couldn't have happened at their hotel. Since, it twas the only time the card was used, it most likely it was cloned here.

Dear MaineTravelMike, thank you for your comments on the website. All credit card machines are meticulously kept in safe places. We have staff members 24/7 looking after all departments, it is the first comment of c.c. clone since the opening in 2015.
We have followed up and checked every single one of the machines, transactions and got in contact with the company responsible for them, nothing came back as clone. Also, the machines are constantly checked and swapped should they present any kind of issues.
I ask you kindly to follow up with your credit card company, as well as your bank and get back to us if you don´t mind. It is way too precipitated to accuse the hotel of cloning your credit card when you are not sure of where it has happened.
I am surprised of the comment regarding our feedback as our staff is trained to give our guests support at all times. We never respond to any guest comment or request before following up and being assured of what we are saying. I ask you kindly to send me more information of your conversation with the staff member you mentioned and I guarantee it will be followed up, we (as a hotel, Novotel) always care for our guests, every single one of them.
