We had the most wonderful lunch at Cafe de la Mané - so good, in fact, that we came back for dinner! We were hungering for simple, freshly prepared food (surprisingly hard to find) and Mané delivered exactly that. I had the Camembert sandwich: Camembert, arugula, and sautéed mushrooms on a toasted baguette. My husband had the roast beef baguette with beef, avocado, lettuce and tomato. He also ordered the homemade pumpkin soup, which was what sealed the deal for us to come back for dinner. Mané, the owner, put aside two bowls for us when we told her we wanted to come back later. I also had a chileno, like an alfajor but with royal icing, and a green tea with "relaxing" herbs. Excellent value - 12,000 pesos for lunch and 10,000 for dinner - plus little heaters next to the tables to stave off the cold! If only every place in Chile were as thoughtful, welcoming, tasty and affordable as Café de la Mané.
